September is Fall Prevention Awareness Month.

But at Home Safe Home, fall prevention isn’t just a September initiative.

It’s what we work on 12 months a year.

Every day, we help people make their homes safer, more accessible, and easier to navigate — because one small change can sometimes make a life-changing difference.

From grab bars and curbless showers to ramps, improved lighting, safer stairs, and other home modifications, our goal is simple:

Prevent falls. Preserve independence. Save lives.

We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to feel safe and confident in their own home — whether they are aging in place, returning home after a hospitalization, or simply trying to make their home work better for their changing needs.

So while September gives us an opportunity to talk about fall prevention, we’re busy doing it every month of the year.

Because at Home Safe Home, fall prevention isn’t just something we talk about. It’s what we do.

Accessible. Safe. Independent.

Here are two great examples of ramps that were thoughtfully integrated into the landscaping of the homes.

Instead of looking like an afterthought or something that was simply “added on,” the ramps flowed naturally with the existing landscape and architecture. They provided the accessibility needed while still looking like they belonged there.

And that’s an important part of what we do at Home Safe Home Maryland

A ramp isn’t just a way to get someone in and out of their home. It can mean independence, safety, dignity, and the ability to continue living in the home they love.

With thoughtful design, accessibility can be both functional AND beautiful.

The goal isn’t to make the ramp disappear — it’s to make it feel like it was always meant to be there.

Some weeks are a great reminder of why relationships matter so much in healthcare.

This week, the Home Safe Home team had the opportunity to connect with providers, community partners, and older adults in so many meaningful ways.

🏌️ We enjoyed a day on the golf course alongside Dr. Ben Frizner and Neil Saft, strengthening partnerships that ultimately help more people age safely at home.

🦿 We presented at the Good Samaritan Hospital Amputee Support Group, sharing practical home modification solutions that can improve independence, confidence, and safety after limb loss.

🥗 We attended MSRN’s Lunch & Learn, connecting with professionals who are equally passionate about improving care transitions and supporting older adults throughout Maryland.

🧠❤️ We participated in Stella Maris’ Brain & Heart event, learning from experts and engaging with others committed to healthy aging and whole-person care.

🎙️ And we wrapped up the week by filming a podcast with Neil Sweren and Scott Eisgrau, discussing the importance of home accessibility, fall prevention, and helping people remain safely in the place they love most—their home.

Every event, conversation, and new connection brings us one step closer to our mission: making homes safer, more accessible, and more supportive for older adults and individuals living with disabilities.

A big thank you to everyone who welcomed us this week. We love being part of such a collaborative healthcare community!

This week, our team completed several ramp installations, each designed to help individuals safely enter and exit their homes while maintaining their independence.

At Home Safe Home, we know that a ramp is more than a construction project—it’s a pathway that allows someone to confidently return home after a hospitalization, remain in the home they love, and continue participating in everyday life.

Every installation is customized to fit the home’s layout, mobility needs, and long-term goals of the individual and their family.

If you or someone you know is struggling with stairs, we’d be happy to help explore options before a fall or injury occurs.

Technology is moving so fast these days that even those of us in the home accessibility industry are learning something new every day!

A prospective client recently called Home Safe Home and mentioned that she found us through “Copilot.”

Dena’s response?

“Wow, that’s amazing! A pilot recommended us?”

After a brief pause, the client kindly explained that Copilot is Microsoft’s AI assistant—not an actual pilot flying around sharing Home Safe Home referrals. ✈️😂

Needless to say, we all got a good laugh out of it.

The good news? Whether you find us through AI, Google, a healthcare professional, a friend, or apparently an imaginary network of supportive pilots, we’re just grateful you found us.

As technology continues to change how people search for services, it’s exciting to see Home Safe Home showing up in new places—and giving us a few laughs along the way.

Home Safe Home had a fabulous day at the Copper Ridge Nursing resource fair last week!

Events like these give us the opportunity to share our passion for helping older adults and individuals with disabilities remain safe, independent, and comfortable in their homes. Whether it’s grab bars, ramps, stairlifts, bathroom modifications, or accessibility solutions, we love educating families about the resources available to help them age in place safely.

One of the best parts of the day was meeting so many people who are dedicated to supporting seniors and learning more about the challenges families face as they navigate care decisions.

5-Star Review! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Nothing makes us happier than hearing from satisfied clients.

At Home Safe Home, creating a bathroom that is both beautiful and safe takes a team effort. Our “dynamic duo” combines the expertise of Dena, our Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist, who evaluates and designs safe, functional spaces, with Ben, our Project Manager, whose construction knowledge and attention to detail bring those designs to life.
The result is bathrooms that not only look great but also support independence, accessibility, and peace of mind for years to come.

And now, we’re excited to offer clients the option of incorporating an Interior Designer into the process, helping create spaces that are as stylish as they are functional.
