General information
Yard to Table Gardens exists to help Austinites access the joys of fresh, organic, home grown produce within the constraints of their hectic lives! Getting Started I offer garden installation and care-taking services as well as a wealth of resources to ensure that when you're ready to take over your garden, you feel prepared and excited about the possibilities. While raised bed are a fantastic, simple solution, other options such as in ground gardens, container gardens, and sheet mulch gardens are also an option. Together, we'll figure out what's right for you. Using ideas rooted in permaculture design, each garden is tailored to fit both its environment and its gardener. During a consultation meeting, consideration is given to rainfall and drainage patterns, seasonally changing sun exposure, accessibility, and other environmental factors to best integrate your garden with your yard and your life. Gardens can range from a small, supplemental garden with a few herbs for tea and spices, to a yard full of garden beds, drip irrigation, a compost pile, and frequent care-taking visits. Ongoing Support If the idea of taking care of your garden all by your lonesome feels daunting, Yard to Table would be happy to care for your garden to any extent you like. We can water, w**d, prune, mulch, diagnose and treat pest infestations, harvest your garden and supply recipie ideas to any extent, from bi-weekly check ups to full care-taking. Impact Yard to Table seeks to source the garden materials in the most conscientious way possible. Compost used to enrich the soil is cultivated from diverted organic food waste. Biodegradable w**d barriers placed below each bed are also sourced by diverting the waste stream. Bamboo is used to construct trellises for beans, peas, cucumbers, tomatoes, and much more. Beds made of untreated cedar are filled with high quality garden soil free of chemicals and toxins that can permeate root systems. Not only are Yard to Table gardens high quaility, their materials are responsibly sourced.
