Was reminded yesterday to clean and maintain my workboots. Red Wing Iron Ranger boots. Going on 4019 days since purchased these. Thats over ELEVEN years. Could hardly afford them at the time, but I’m sure glad I bought em. Although the sole have been changed and I now wear custom orthotics.. Firm believer of - Buy Once, Cry Once.

Delivery day in Hayden Lake, Idaho. With extra curricular activities.

Oregon black walnut harvested in Oregon wine country. Air dried since 1983. Oregon white oak from my backyard, and fumed hammered brass and Texas tanned leather.

Inside sits an elevator with a decanter and four glasses.

After 9 years I scattered Dads ashes. He now permanently rests under this black walnut tree in our front yard. I’ve had the tree almost 10 years now. It’s moved to three locations, and has almost died twice. After the last transplant 4 years ago it seems to be living its best life, but stunted in growth for sure. Although it won’t be in my lifetime.. but hopefully somebody will build something with the tree one day. Ashes are full of minerals, and I’m certain that the tree will be full of colorful mineral deposits on the interior. Just like my Dad. The ID badge attached to the tree was on his remains, and it will eventually be absorbed into the tree. Thus making an interesting surprise for the sawyer 😂 - Rest easy Dad 🙏🏼

The great bowl study has come to an end.

Each bowl started off as salvaged off cuts from chairs, tables, and other miscellaneous projects ive built over the years. Meticulously machined with trial and error. Hyper focused and examining how thin I could fabricate each one, while holding the form and maintaining functionality. The finishing reflects my furniture process. Hand rubbed oil bath finish, curing in between coats. After out gassing, I then spray each bowl with a 0% volatile organic compound water base polyurethane. Built up with multiple coats, hand sanded in between and repeated. For the final coat a hand buffed carnauba furniture grade paste wax.

Total of 7 bowls available. This project took way longer than anticipated, and I will be closing the books on these. I rarely revisit smaller goods like this due to how busy my furniture schedule gets. Unfortunately once they’re gone, they’re gone.

These bowls are for decorative purposes only. They are not intended to be eaten out of, or hold liquids.

Final. This project started out as a tree on our property that fell down in February 12th 2021. The tree took out not only our power but also the neighbors for nearly a month. After many warm shop fires, a load of resources and years of air drying.. I can finally close end the chapter on this credenza. I’d be lying if I didn’t say I wasn’t burnt out on this project, but it’s done. Onto the next chapter. - The Ellis Credenza. Rift sawn Aurora, Oregon white oak. Hand hammered brass, and radio weave caning.
