It is supposed to be a time when things are winding down in the relocation industry and yet it seems our plate gets more and more full no matter how fast we eat! LOL! There has been barely enough time for business paperwork so unfortunately, posting updates has had to take the back seat.
Ash and I had an adventure last week driving north to Houlton to build crates for 5-6 items. The day was spectacular yet chilly and the further north we drove, the white frost on the sides of the highway gave way to snow. The roads were great though, thankfully!
So when you come from southern Maine you're always thinking that you need to be on Interstate 95 North. Well, Houlton is as far north as you can go on 95 as, after that, you find yourself unwittingly going into Canadian Customs.
I guess you probably know where this is going... I was tired physically and mentally from performance and manifestation with math and lumber that I was on auto-pilot when we got out of there so, yep, I took 95 North. (I was actually thinking how odd it was that the on ramp was on a different side of the road... joke on me haha...)
Then the speed limit began decreasing and I am thinking, "I don't remember seeing any road construction..." and then suddenly I am seeing the signs welcoming me to Canada. CRAP!
I had my passport with me, but Ash only had an ID and a very thick Ukrainian accent. I thought it best that Ash not speak unless forced to.
1/2 hour delay but we got turned around for our crazy long drive on a moose laden highway with daylight running out. Ugh!
As we approached the toll booth leaving Augusta toward Lewiston, we stopped and chatted for a minute or so with one of our favorite attendants, Chris. (I think about EZ Pass but I'd miss my friends in the booth so I don't both...)
When we took off again, we weren't down the road but a mile or so when we came upon a FRESH vehicle/deer collision. The vehicle was pulled over and other vehicles were pulling over to assist but when I say fresh, I mean I won't even go into the details.
Thankfully Chris was at the booth to make small talk because we probably would have been a little closer to that scene and perhaps involved.
We see and experience so many things on the road. When we are on the way to a job, we might as well be watching a 3-D Reality show of some sort. The world drives by and offers a view, and you drive by offering the same.
Tired and glad to be home after 13 hours.
