Last week I posted the front door of the new living room / old carport . This week we finally finished the interior, still some fine tuning but close enough to show. I built the beams and doors and give them a little face lift.

Good Sunday to everyone! I hope all is well. I apologize for not posting anything for so long, I had some health issues I was dealing with but with the help of God and many prayers I think Iam getting back on track again. With that being said I have also gotten very behind with work so I don’t have any jobs that stand out but my wife and I are doing some upgrades in and old house so I thought I would show some of the things I’ve been working on. First of all I was looking on the internet one day and saw a beautiful door and I thought I’d try my skills at building one, I think it turned out pretty good. What do you think?
To help you understand what you see, this used to be an open carport. We converted it into the new living room. I will post more of the project later this week.

Final post of the year, it’s been a crazy but a wonderful year!! I hope all of you can say the same, Iam truly thankful for many blessings in my life and look forward to what ever the future brings. With that said I heard Santa might be needing an extra hand, not sure how much I can do but I sure could use some reindeer and some flying reindeer, or mules! 😂

I hope everyone of you have a MERRY CHRISTMAS!!🎄

It seems like people have been enjoying hearing the old fashioned Christmas tunes from the antique piano so it made me think of the old freight cart I restored for the Historical Train Depot in Rockdale County, we thought Santa could use some help with deliveries!😆
After the restoration they used it to design Christmas ornaments for the Welcome Center.

I pulled out an old piece that’s always fun to hear, excuse the way it looks, it’s been hibernating in the shop for years, enjoy.
Not sure of the age but I think early 1900, possibly late 1800

Today I want to share a story about my daughter, both my children have helped in the shop their whole life, both have worked as full time employees and Iam sure it would have been easier working for someone else. My daughter now works a side job at another restoration business . Iam not worried about the competition since she is now in Kansas City on her own by the way . We do worry about her but something tells me she can take care of herself,😊 ! Pretty impressive! I’m proud of you Kelsi!

Earlier I posted some pictures of some small yet detailed repair/restoration projects and how important small work can be for different reasons. I couldn’t help but think of the one project that is with out a doubt the highlight of my career. I started my business in 1987 , in 1988 I was given the opportunity to bid on a fire damage job at the courthouse in the small town of Marshal N.C. which probably few people knew about until the destruction from the recent hurricane . In 1988 apparently a gentleman was to appear before the judge , so he thought by breaking in and pouring fuel on the judges bench and trying to burn the courthouse down would take care of things . Well that didn’t work out so well for him and while he was being arrested the courthouse was badly damaged but saved.
I had just started my business thinking I had lost my mind ! I had the chance to do a couple of small insurance jobs, (fire and water damage )which was new to me. Then one day I get a call from a contractor I had recently finished a small job for and he asked me if I would be interested in a much larger job, well of course! I had no idea what he had in mind. But with multiple stories to tell in between , and with the help of many skilled people , six weeks later we accomplished a major project on time and with full satisfaction. I have great memories of the town and the people who welcomed us . My prayers continue to go out to this town and all that have been harmed recently. The pictures are shot from old pictures from the restoration in 1988.

Well I had so much fun with the last project I took it up a notch, this is a nice walnut gunstock that apparently had been used for something other than its intended purpose but with some tlc it’s strong enough to get back to business and shouldn’t be ashamed of its looks!

I just wanted to show how some small jobs are as important as large, I repaired this for a retired vet that wanted to fix it because it belonged to his father. So of course once it was broken he wanted it back in tact for keepsake . But it should be able to used again. Looks simple enough but the wood is African Rosewood which is extremely hard and brittle so trying to drill such a large hole leaving a thin wall without exploding in small pieces is not easy and I was very happy to get it this close with no error! I’ve tested it and feel confident.
