Some quick presents in white oak, teak/ walnut, and maple. Thankfully the drum sander’s belts were easy to replace, it sure makes sanding end grain less painful.

Big or small, this walnut desk is a great size to get to work. It’s a little lower than a dining room table, and to accommodate leg room, there is no front apron. The connectors make this possible, so this can be flat-packed for safe delivery. Really happy with the beauty of this walnut from . Can’t wait to deliver this week.

Wrapping up the week and thinking of this sweet delivery. Child labor laws have been surprisingly lax during this pandemic, so my big helper came along for the fun. 4’ x 10’ walnut dining table for two is perfect for social distance dining, yet is versatile enough to stand in as a 12 seater if the occasion arises. The finish really is so pleasing to work with.

Hope you all are staying healthy. When this mess is all over with, I’m looking forward to eating at in Atlanta. I had a chance to collaborate with on a couple of really neat projects in this diner within the art-deco style building that once housed the Atlanta Dairies - truly a top notch new urban renewal project.

These 9 foot white oak French doors look pretty stunning in Wonderkid’s event space- the Rainbow Room. Each door has two sets of stainless steel rings fabricated by and dark tempered glass. There were a lot of parts involved with these doors and needless to say I am a little envious of those with tall shops.

This is a hard time for everyone, and I’m thankful for the health of my family and the time is spending watching our son while pursuing a PhD so I can continue to work at my shop. Safe journey out there! @ Wonderkid

Tonight is a celebration of one of the most joyous types: a fundraiser for Extra Special People . Each year they pack out the Classic Center to raise money for their summer camp for children with disabilities. I’ve had the opportunity to attend and it is really a tearful and overwhelming event. There is a pageant and really this organization does so much for not only our community but is spreading their love around the country. The theme for tonight’s gala is Big Hearts In Bloom. Here is my contribution to their silent auction, it’s a 48” x 24” reclaimed wood wall art. The “flower” is from an old hand drill that fell apart, and some brass hemispheres. I’m including the link in my profile of this auction if anyone is so inclined to learn more about this.

I’m pretty floored seeing some of the slick photos of Chuck’s Fish here in downtown Athens. pulled off a pretty magical blend of mid century futurism to transform this historic Greyhound Bus Station. It’s a solid Win for Athens that this building did not get torn down. I’m so glad that the nearly 30 tabletops I fabricated play a small part in this unicorn of a building. 📷: Tucker Alford

I recently delivered this heart pine wall art. Sometimes in idly creating a piece, perspectives change. I didn’t really have a direction this was going, only that it lacked the cohesion I was attempting with all the end grain blocks. I sat on this for a while before deciding to burn it, paint it, and sand it back. Now it’s quite lovely, the end grain of the pine really shows like a bunch of fingerprints. I would love to make a headboard like this.

When I got my Hammer A3-31 planer-jointer, I opted to save a grand and get the straight blades, with the hope that I would be able to sharpen the blades myself one day. I finally got around to getting the planer blade attachment for my Tormek T-8 and it works like a charm. It took about half an hour of set up, and another half hour to hone both sides of the three blades and get them back on the machine. The only times I’ve had the Hammer knives dull on me has been after a large run of heart pine. Very happy to stay sharp!
