I got the first application of oil onto this whiskey shelf I’m making for a client. The live edge material I have for this piece is just gorgeous, and I look forward to finding out what bottle he puts in that choice spot there.

I’d like to welcome my new used Wen 3424T wood turning lathe to my shop! Huzzah! This here is the before picture. I’ve got oil and WD-40 soaking in and I’ll begin cleaning it tomorrow. This is gonna change things.

I love barter! We’re all chasing the next dollar and trying to make the dollars we have right now stretch. So when my friend Arwen hit me up offering her specialty, massage, for my specialty, photography, it was a no-brainer!

The pictures turned out gorgeous, and her massage was glorious.

I’m available for hire, but I’m also available for barter and trade. My favorite is when we both feel like we got the better end of the deal. ❤️

I made a handful of candle holders I'm making available for sale. I'm offering them to my friends before going with a slightly wider and more public audience. I’ve been trying to describe this technique and failing, so I just made one. I’m calling it a trimmed hole. Ahem. This one is walnut and cherry, and I intend to put these into desk tops. Want a rad desk? I’m for hire.

Today, I got to deliver a 100-year-old table I restored for a customer. I'm pretty sure the table top is redwood. It was light and sort of easy to sand. But the edge profile required quite a bit of attention. So much attention. Once I got the old finish and stain off, I applied boiled linseed oil, Shellac, and water-based polyurethane. I also drilled out the old screw holes and filled them with cherry plugs; something more substantial for the screws to hold onto. I am proud and my customer was thrilled. This one felt GOOD.

I forgot to share the table I made for my daughter’s living room! This is 22” square and is an original design by me. I absolutely love it and look forward to making a coffee table for myself in the same style. Beech and mahogany with shellac.

Last night I stayed up late applying shellac by flash light to the foot stool I made for my mom and the arm table I made for my daughter’s couch. This morning they both look great, and I’m glad to leave my most important clients happy. 🥰

People who say “it’s the wood worker, not the tool” have not used sh*tty chisels. I miss my Two Cherries and Narex chisels. Still, I’m a hell of a wood worker and this piece is gonna be great. Getting there MAY be frustrating though.
