SWG encompasses a wide range of skills, knowledge, and interests. Members include professional, hobby and others interested in woodworking. Member interests cover a wide range of wood technologies; furniture design, jo

Since 1980 our mission is to offer fellowship by providing networking among our members. We value the principles and practices of fine woodworking and encourage technical discussion and development. We promote an appreciation of quality workmanship by the general public by providing access to our products and through our experience and design expertise via shows, classes, and other events.

Here is Christian Burchard's website. He has been successful with the artistic side of woodworking. His work can be found around the globe:

Each material has its own life, and one cannot, without punishment, destroy a living material to make a dumb and senseless thing. We must not try to make materials speak our language. We must go with them to the point where others understand their language.

This chest of drawers was on display at the guild's recent Thanksgiving Show. There's nothing that symbolizes fine woodworking more than hand cut dovetails.

Places like IKEA spend a LOT of money on designing pieces that look great - from a distance. Get closer and one finds particle board/melamine construction, sloppy fit, large and inconsistent gaps, and loose construction given the extensive use of user friendly metal fasteners for joinery.

Compare an IKEA product to this piece and it is night and day. The craftsmanship here is exquisite. The drawers hug the inside of the chest to provide the perfect amount of friction when pulling out. The gaps around the drawer are almost non-existent. The drawer k**b is wonderfully ergonomic and feels great in the hand. The joinery is superb. This piece is meant to be touched and it feels great when doing so. I get no pleasure sliding my hand on an IKEA piece of furniture. This is an heirloom piece. In fact, that is the case for all the wonderful pieces built by the guild's crafts people at the show!!!

The 2025 Siskiyou Woodcraft Guild Annual Thanksgiving show has come and gone. It was held this past weekend - first weekend after Thanksgiving. Here is the first thing one saw before entering the show room. Everyone was invited to give the rocking horse a go - kids and adults. Needless to say, this was a hit!
