Have been using this wonderful chair for about a week now and have noticed a real difference in my focus. I thought I'd have to switch back and forth between this chair and a more standard chair to give my back a break, but was surprised to make it through a 9+ hour workday on day 1, and have carried on since then. Do not miss my normal office chair at all. Finally, a chair that is made for people who move. Craftsmanship is excellent and feels very sturdy to sit on. The design is elegant - literally setup within 2 minutes, didn't even need the included instructions. Highly recommend. Already thinking of getting more for other parts of our home.

I loved my first Higher Ground chair so much I went back for seconds! This time I grabbed the smaller size, and it’s a total game-changer for beating the "static trap" of standard office seating.

Don't let the compact footprint fool you, it packs the exact same active sitting comfort. It gives me an entire palette of postures while working, then effortlessly slides completely under my desk when I'm done. IKEA furniture should aspire to be this simple to build. And yet it is still very sturdy. I am also happy with how they look.

Incredibly comfortable if you know how to sit in various yoga postures. Way better than regular chairs.

My review may be coming from a different direction than the rest. I used this chair for the better part of a month now and feel I can relay my thoughts. I bought this chair as someone who believes as many have said that years of sitting in a standard desk chair has taken away A LOT of my flexibility and caused much of my lower back pain. So I have begun stretching more and trying to gain flexibility back by sitting in various positions other than traditional sitting. So while many of the reviews come from people who can sit criss cross legged, on bent legges, or asian squat, I cannot but would like to get there someday.
So if you are like me and aspire to sit that way, then this chair is for you (and me) but make sure you are committed to this style of sitting or I can easily see this chair pushed to a corner and becoming an extra storage shelf.

My only negative comment is the lack of ability to lower the overall height (not just the tilt). As a shorter person 5'6" I don't sit with my desk chair at 20" because my feet don't quite reach the ground at that height. Also, I would not be at eye level with my monitor at that height. Most chairs and couches (I measured) are at about 15 - 17 inches high. So when using this chair with a cushion either trying to keel (which I cant yet) or asian squat I am so high I have to bend down a bit to type or be at eye level with my monitors and laptop screen. It would be nice to have a lower option so that in a squatting/kneeling position with the cushion, you would be closer to eye level with monitor/laptop on a standard desk. Monitor stands or a standing desk are a good solution as well, but if you don't already have those, then it's an extra investment on top of the chair.

Still would recommend this purchase overall.

I (Nathan’s wife) work from home and have tried traditional desks with different chairs. I’ve tried standing desks. Nothing has provided long term comfort. Next, I tried a floor desk with a pillow, then a yoga bolster, then a zafu. That worked alright for two years.
But as someone with scoliosis sitting too long hurts. Standing too long hurts. Getting up and down off the floor is annoying for eight hours, so I sat too much. Then I found Higher Ground through a random internet search. I was intrigued.
I bought a height adjustable workbench (crank operated) as a desk and after being prodded by my husband to spend the money we didn’t have, I ordered a large chair from Higher Ground.
2 days later it was at my door.
My husband unpacked it and 1.5 literal minutes later I had it put together. Then I sat.
All my back and hip pain disappeared. The next day I was so comfortable I worked 30 extra minutes because I wasn’t waiting to be able to stand up and leave my desk. There are no words. Now my husband wants one and we want two more for our family room.
Thank you for such a simple but thoughtful solution.

I WFH in a job that requires me to sit in front of the computer for several hours at a time. I am a super restless sitter, and have tried ALL the chairs....Cross-legged chairs, yoga ball chairs, kneeling chairs, core-focused chairs. This is the one that lets me sit comfortably and work in pretty much any position: squatting, cross-legged, one knee up, normal (feet flat on the floor). My only issue is the cushion that comes with it is firm, so my lumbar spine feels compressed at the end of the day. I'm currently troubleshooting that.
