Once upon a time a couple had a dream…..a BIG dream! A life changing dream. For 15 years or more they had this dream to live on a lake in a house that could be a B & B with a shop to make Custom Reclaimed Wood furniture and a health and wellness business to help others thrive. To connect with Mother Nature and learn from her. As the years went by, something always held them back for moving forward….was it fear of change, unworthiness, financial limitations? Probably all of the above.
That couple was Us, Tim Cole and Me! For years we carried that dream in our hearts but never had the guts to carry forward. We lived in a suburb of Minneapolis, on a cul de sac, in a 4 bedroom rambler. It was comfortable there, we loved our neighbors, and our house and yard but Tim had to build furniture out of our unheated garage during the harsh Minnesota winters. And no water feature for my soul….
In July we attended the Tony Robbins 7 day Comeback Challenge. It was so excellent that then Tim and I attended the first ever Virtual Tony Robbins Unleash the Power Within. What an experience that was….For 4 days we lived and breathed the event. We did the exercises, dancing, movement, listened and learned and absorbed. For the most part it was me holding us back from our dream….I didn’t feel all the pieces were in place. It was during this event….Where the Impossible Becomes Possible….that I had a breakthrough. It was during the exercise of “What does my extraordinary life look like at the next level?” Here is what I wrote:
“Standing on our deck gazing toward the water, I feel Joy and Peace. The sound of Tim’s saw buzzes through the air. He is making furniture. We have recently moved to our new home and opened our B&B. We help so many families with our health and wellness business. It continues to grow and thrive. Our B & B is an experience for people. A place to come and relax, find joy, and commune with nature.”
From there I went on to “What’s preventing me from making it happen?” and “What needs to shift? And “What actions to take?” I worked through all that and then we went to our Breakout Group and said our thoughts. I told the group I was ready to move forward with our dream!! After the UPW was over, Tim took that and ran with it! Long story short we hooked up with our amazing realtor, Laurie Knudson (who we had kept on hold for years), got our house on the market at the end of August, sold in 7 days and then looked for our new home for the next couple of weeks. After 2 weeks of looking, driving and long long days often putting on 300-400 miles a day, we were out of options. The next morning I got a message from my daughter on a house that was about 150 miles away. We went to look at it that day. It is a “Shouse” A house with a shop. The interior is an amazing combination of reclaimed wood, barn beams and rusted ripple tin. Absolutely perfect for Us. Absolutely amazing for a B & B with a heated shop and on a wonderful recreation lake!! We closed on both houses on Oct. 26.
As I sit here writing this and gazing out at the lake, I am full of Gratitude and Joy! I will never forget Tony saying “Life is happening for you, not to you!” How true is that when you are in the right State. During the last UPW we celebrated our 19th Wedding Anniversary and the next UPW we will be celebrating my 62nd birthday! UPW, Where the Impossible Becomes Possible!! Who knows what we will create this time around but we are ready to take on our new reality!!
