This week, we are highlighting another fantastic Asbury Park ReStore volunteer: Kim Rey! 😍
Originally from Massachusetts, Kim Rey has called New Jersey home for more than 30 years. Although she raised her children in Franklin Lakes, Asbury Park always held a special place in her heart.
Following her retirement from a career in real estate, Kim was looking for a meaningful way to give back to the community and had long admired the work of Habitat for Humanity. After she moved to Asbury Park with her husband and their two dogs, she began volunteering at the ReStore and has been with us for nearly two years now.
Kim says one of her favorite parts of volunteering is connecting with fellow volunteers and customers.
“The other volunteers lift me up, and it feels good to know that I am making a small difference.”
Outside of the ReStore, Kim enjoys starting her mornings with her dogs and taking in the beauty of the shore.
“My favorite part of the day is waking up early to walk my dogs and catch the sunrise. It sets me straight for the day.”
Store Manager Kelly Clavin told us:
“Kim is another one of our newer regulars! She fit right in with the ‘Thursday crew.’ Kim is so fun to work with and has a great sense of humor. She comes in and gets right to work doing anything and everything that is needed. When she’s not at the ReStore, she’s usually traveling all over or visiting her daughter in Montana. We’re grateful that she always comes back to us!”
Want to get involved with Monmouth Habitat? There are many ways to support our mission, including shopping at our ReStore, donating furniture and home goods, volunteering, sponsoring or attending events or serving on a committee. Every contribution helps to build homes, neighborhoods, and hope. 🏡💙
