I know I haven't posted here in a long while, but exciting news: I've got a booth lined up all summer at Art Night Out in Lafayette! I've been busy cooking up some inventory and these end grain cutting boards will be included. I'll also have chopsticks, tons of spatulas, and a few cocktail smokers as well.
The first one is Friday, May 8th (just over a week away!). Can't wait to see ya there!

So uhh, anyone know morse code? πŸ‘€

Inspired by an Instagram ad I saw months ago of personalized jewelry with morse code, I started wondering how I could implement something like that into my craft as a way of covertly personalizing gifts and doing something that wasn't the cliche scripty CNC/lasered text.

In this one, I've integrated stripes of cherry into walnut. The wide cherry strip towards the top represents a dash and the four thinner strips represent dots. The two wide walnut strips in the middle represent spaces between letters.

In this board (from the top going down), it is dash, dot-dot-dot, dot, which translates to "TSE" for a simple monogram for my wife, and I.

I love how simple yet meaningful it is and the form factor of the board is perfect too (11"x17"). Big and stout enough for demanding kitchen tasks yet still plenty easy to handle for all its scraping and washing needs.

The second chair is nervous for its fate πŸ‘€

I'm finally breaking down these chairs for a sentimental commission to turn their grandparents' dining chairs into picture frames for Christmas gifts. Excited to see how these turn out!

Said goodbye to my first table saw today! Maybe I'm just weirdly sentimental, but it is bittersweet for me. The saw has done me well over the last several years and kick-started my hobby in woodworking. The vintage saw will continue kicking in a new set of hands.

Don't worry though, I'll be getting a new one that is better suited for my new smaller shop since the move. I'm excited for what's to come!

I know this was supposed to be posted yesterday... Well, did you know it takes a lot of mental capacity to CLOSE ON A HOUSE? Well, we did that! We bought a house!

These boards are the last projects I finished in my current shop and I'm excited to see what comes next.

If you'd like to support and I as we navigate what it's like to be first time home buyers, we would greatly appreciate it! I promise you'll get a lovely cutting board in return πŸ™‚

Look at that! πŸ‘€ I'm making a batch of cutting boards! πŸ”ͺ πŸͺ΅ And you want one! πŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈ

I'm still around after a long break from socials and I'm trying to take things less seriously. Like I'm sure many of you also experience, social media has always been a tricky thing for me to approach. I often would feel as if every post needed a purpose. I always caught myself checking engagement despite telling myself I didn't care about it. Well, hopefully no more of that.

So, yeah, I'm making some cutting boards since and I are trying to buy a house! Aaaand, well, it's expensive. So I'll have a few maple boards up for sale soon (and if it goes well, maybe other things with new woods and stuff). They'll be nice, end, grain, and hopefully have a nice pattern. Likely around the $75-100 mark. Shop will be super barebones, no website, just a lil Instagram story and sales handled via DMs. Nobody has time for fancy schmancy websites after all.

If you're interested, feel free to keep a lookout on my page for an announcement. Otherwise, thanks for reading this far and supporting your local woodworker!

The weaving of Otis' dog bed is going well! Very happy with how this is turning out. Something tells me he may not want to give up his spot on the couch though...
