A fire started in the boiler room of the Annex Building (17 Bedford Road, behind Town Hall) on the afternoon of Saturday, 10/24. The building was unoccupied, and the Armonk Fire Department contained and extinguished the fire.

In an abundance of caution, and to properly assess the damage, the Annex Building will be closed to staff and the public on Monday, October 26.

In an ongoing effort to maintain your water quality we will be flushing the distribution system. Our efforts will eliminate potential periodic turbid water conditions, and improve water quality.

On Thursday evening, October 22nd, between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m., the Water & Sewer Department will be flushing fire hydrants within the distribution system of Water District No.4.

Advantages of Distribution System Flushing:
• Flushing removes accumulated sediment.
• Improves water quality.
• Decreases chlorine demand.
• Operating hydrants provides the department with a way of determining if there is additional field maintenance required.
• Hydrant flow records are a key in providing information necessary for the District’s ISO fire rating.

This flushing process may cause you to experience lower pressure and discolored water. It is advised to let your cold water run for a few minutes in the morning to clear what may be in your service line. Residents are urged to check their water for clarity prior to doing any laundry, as the discolored water will stain clothing. Although the water may be discolored, please be assured that your water remains safe.

After 6 days, including 2 days to cut, rout, and pre-drill the 124 pressure-treated wood boards used to replace the original infrastructure, and 4 days to remove and install, we are pleased to announce that the bridge off of Main Street is once again open to the public.

We want to recognize the work of our Building Maintenance Department who completed this project expeditiously all while continuing to care for other items that also needed attention during this process.

The Armonk Branch of the North Castle Public Library will be undergoing significant and necessary electrical work on the week of October 19th. Work is underway to repair the boards of the bridge off Main St. (directly across from the Sunoco gas station). Access to the bridge will be closed off to the public until repairs are completed. Thank you for your patience as we complete this necessary repair.
