Red Kite Furniture is dedicated to saving used furniture from curbs and giving it a second life. Salvaging and refinishing saves bulky items from landfill and extends their life instead. It also saves energy and resources that would have been spent making new furniture from scratch. We do both furniture refinishing, which results in a new look for the piece, and furniture restoration, which restor

es a piece to its original condition and look. Our name and logo come from the red kite bird, a graceful bird of prey that is both a scavenger and an opportunistic hunter.

I love how this client project turned out and it was a pleasure to work on! Very nice 10+ year old night stand that had been previously painted. Client’s husband said to just throw it away! Bids are going up on this table I made for the Arts Arlington fundraiser auction! Auction ends in 4 days. I rescued this table from someone moving in my neighborhood and made a cherry blossom design with pink seed pods from my backyard and a resin coating.

Another table brought back to life! Old sentimental solid cherry table with years of damage. Had been oiled in the past, so the build up needed to be scraped off before I could attack it with the sander. The new finish shows off the natural color of the wood, is durable, and doesn’t need upkeep like oil or polish.

Grateful for my client who wanted to save her solid wood furniture even when her husband called it “junk” :p

High quality, circa 1950s Heywood Wakefield dresser, newly refinished with cream-colored paint, caramel toned wood, and new hardware. Heywood Wakefield is a furniture brand known for its craftsmanship and later produced very valuable mid century modern pieces. This piece is solid wood and very heavy! The colors remind me of a latte 😋

I've been in a furniture painting slump, but I painted something else today 😊 Learned lettering from awesome sign painter Kenji Nakayama and painted poems written by residents and chosen by Arts Arlington. Had a great time engaging with the community. I moved here during the pandemic and haven't gotten to know the town yet!
