Welcome to the second annual hunt for the BLACK EASTER EGG!

We had such fun with this last year and we are excited to bring it back to you again this year!

Last time despite playing twice, we didn't get past day one but we learned a lot and have come back prepared... or so we think.

A few notes and rules ...

1. We thought our boss level clues had been hard, but apparently they were not hard enough!

So we're turning it up a notch to see how you'll do.

2. The egg is hidden where professional lookers WILL NOT FIND IT. Trying to play this game without solving the clues isn't going to work, we've made sure of it.

3. Our clues are LAYERED, designed to confuse and misdirect you, the truth is always in there though you just need to know how to look, remember details matter. EVERYTHING in our clues is done deliberately, don't overlook anything. This includes the pictures.

Please note though that standard grammar rules will be followed (capital on first letter of the word of a new sentence etc).

4. The egg is on land with public kid friendly access with an Ark City address. We are NOT limited to the city limits.

You do not need to trespass, dig, open or tare into anything. It's hiding in plain sight.

5. As always only two people in the whole wide world know where the egg is at and we're not telling.

So everyone else is welcome to play! This game is NOT EXCLUSIVELY for those that live in Ark City.

6. First clue will drop on Thursday(4/2/26) at midnight, you will get one clue per day with the final clue on Easter Sunday.

Egg must be found and claimed by 9 am the Monday (4/6/26) following Easter. If no one finds the egg than the prize carries over to next year.

7. If you should happen to find the Black Egg you MUST take a picture of the egg in its hiding location and be able to answer basic facts about finding it.

8. Once the egg has been found we will let everyone know. Until then just figure it's still out there waiting to be found.

9. Clues this year will ONLY be posted on The Good Finch Company page so be sure to like and follow to keep up to date on the hunt.

I have been thinking about this post all day. We have been so lucky the last few years and have not had to deal with a lot of theft but Wild Annie's Antique Boutique nailed it on her post. We are not a large corporation who can front a lot of theft. We are 2 regular people who source our jewelry from the people who make it. We keep prices as low as possible so that others don’t break the bank. Honestly, most of the time we barely break even but we love our little hobby. This has been a HUGE loss. To those who complain about not having any store fronts uptown, this is exactly why. It is not cheap to do business and when things like this happen it is completely disheartening. If anyone knows anything about these thefts please notify us or the police. To all of those who have helped support us throughout the years thank you from the bottom of our hearts 🙏

Recently, we had $750 worth of jewelry stolen. To some, that number may not seem huge. To a small business—and the local vendors who trust us with their work—it is a deep and painful loss.

That amount represents long hours, creative effort, and income someone was counting on. It’s rent, groceries, utilities, and hope. When theft happens in a small shop, it doesn’t come out of a big corporate budget or an insurance cushion—it comes directly from real people trying their best to survive and serve their community.

Small businesses operate on thin margins. We show up every day because we love what we do and we believe in supporting local makers, artists, and our downtown. Losses like this don’t just hurt financially; they’re emotionally draining and discouraging.

We share this not for sympathy, but for understanding. Every purchase made, every kind word, every moment of honesty matters more than you know. Supporting small businesses means protecting livelihoods and preserving the heart of our community.

Thank you to those who continue to stand with us. We’re still here, still trying, and still grateful.
