Hi everyone!!
It has been a minute (or over a year, actually) since I last posted a new piece for sale or even a hello. Sorry about that. I've had a few complicated years, and I found avoiding this Silver Lining page was more peaceful for me than to drag you through it.
While it's been on my mind and on a to-do list (I love a good list) to share a little of what I have been up to, I wasn't really ready until recently!
I wonder if those years of refinishing furniture was to prepare for future changes as well as try and master the art of refinishing so that I these big projects I have been working on would turn out like I envisioned them!
About a year and a half ago, I said goodbye to one part of my life I tried so hard to fix for many, many years and hello to new challenges, opportunities, and a whole lot more peace. With that came sole ownership of my home in which long overdue projects became a priority. If anything needed to get done, I was the one that needed to do it! I've cleaned, organized, landscaped, and took over every aspect of the upkeep of the home inside and out.
I've learned how to fix the broken dryer, troubleshoot and fix the clogged dishwasher, change ceiling lights, clean the air conditioner, run the snow-blower, lay pavers, dabbled with drywall work, painted walls, scraped floors, installed cabinets (yes, I refinished them first) and have used up a whole graph notebook to sketch out my visions. I'm a paper girl. I have measured, calculated, re-measured a few times and drew up multiple floor plans. I can now speak to the difference between laminate and vinyl flooring and the easiest way to pop out cement nails. I learned code rules for venting dryers (two dryers cannot share a vent) and township requirements for having a rental space within your home. Yes, I now have a rental area for traveling healthcare professionals in hopes it will provide a little extra income to help pay those darn taxes and save for dumb things like new roofs. So, that meant no more time for dabbling in the furniture world outside of what I needed for this last project.
Fortunately, I am so very blessed with a great family who has sacrificed many a weekend over the past year to help me see my visions come through! Special thanks to Aaryn and Brian Feile with helping me on so many weekends with grading and stamping for paved areas, extending a wall, adding a door, ripping up carpet, scrubbing cabinets and anything I had on my list that I am sure would make most others eyes roll! Avery helped with the hard labor of thr paver project and then did all of the plumbing work for the “apartment.” My nephew Ike did the electrical work in the kitxhenette. Alecia and family who helped paint, and my dad who has done anything and everything I have asked from him.
Please allow me to share these projects in upcoming posts to explain where in the heck I have been!
