These are two of my earliest chairs!. I built them 10yrs ago in Spanish Cedar. At the time ... TEAK was headed for the endangered species list and the quality of farm raised teak wasn't that great! And far outside my budget as a maker and craftsman. So I decided to source other options for material. I settled on Spanish cedar for it's durability and light weight. But outdoor furniture tends to migrate, kinda like humans!? Go figure... I mean the sun still changes direction and people like to adjust their views! Well at least let's hope? And maybe the neighbors aren't that bad and their cocktails just taste better, etc etc!? I chose Sapele (africanmahogany) for its durability and weight, and from my experience building and rigging boats in Annapolis as a young man! Trust me Sapele chairs don't migrate as easily as Spanish Cedar! Even with a strong wind!
This 10yr old set is back for a refresh and minor tlc. And after 10yrs with very little maintenance.I can say they are solid as rocks! And lets be honest, being on the Chesapeake Bay for any extended period of time will weather the hardiest of human or lumber?!
Quality lumber matters! I started My first lumber order was with Joe and with over 40 chairs built to date!. And the new orders coming in... I'm still stoked and grateful for the quality! Thank you
I now have chairs from the East Coast to West Coast and even a few places in between! And for my recent orders!! I'm equally stoked and grateful!
Best,
✌️❤️🤘🤙!
