Behind the scenes at every farm is a team of contractors that keep our infrastructure running. They don’t always get the recognition they deserve! 🧑‍🔧

This week our friends at Amite Pump & Well / Dale Mixon - Owner replaced our well tank, and upgraded our submersible pump system ahead of a new season. 💧
As you can imagine, we use a LOT of water processing thousands of birds and filling tanks. However, water and energy conservation is important to us. To do this as sustainably and efficiently as possible, we decided to upgrade the pump to a 3” Grundfos, effectively reducing our energy consumption up to 50%. This system is also efficient with our backup generator system with a low pull, and can take power from a future solar or wind system too.

The smaller the impact, and shorter the supply chain, the more sustainable our farm can be for the environment. We aren’t just producing chicken and eggs good for you, we want to be good to the planet we all share, too. 🌎 🐓

Down here in Southeast Louisiana, If you haven't winterized your Water Wells yet, now is the time... I am posting the link to our website where you can see exactly what to do.
We also have the "Freeze Mizer" for faucets, that you see on TV, in stock for $30. We have these on all our outside faucets and are very happy with how they work. Easy to install. Works on any outside faucet to keep them from freezing. Just put them on and open your faucet all the way. As the temperature drops the freeze miser opens and runs water, as the temperature rises it will close and stop the water.

Freeze misers. Easy to install. Works in any outside faucet to keep them from freezing.
Just put them on and open your faucet all the way. As the temperature drops the freeze miser opens and runs water, as the temperature rises it will close and stop the water.

Freeze Mizer in action. This was videoed this past winter when the temperature got down to 6*F in Southeast Louisiana. The water never froze in the pipes and continued to drip. The ice is from the rain that froze around the faucet.

As everyone knows, our area suffered a disaster on Friday August 22, 2024, Smitty's burned to the ground.
****If you have a Water Well be assured that your Well Water is Safe and NOT Affected. Water Wells are closed systems and the water comes from an underground aquafer.
There may be oil and chemical residue on surface water, ie.. pools, ponds, creeks, puddles, ditches, etc..
