The jointer is one of those “heaven or headache” tools. When it’s working properly, it makes quick, sweet work of straightening and flattening boards. However, a poorly tuned jointer can cause no end of frustration, yielding crooked edges, weirdly tapered pieces, and washboard surfaces.

This week the IWF show was in town and brought a number of new guests and a few old friends to our store. Among them was Pethra Sandin, she’s the representative for Sjobergs workbenches, and traveled all the way from Sweden.

Dolly touched so many lives. She made so many people smile, laugh, and just made folks feel better. This world is better because she was here.

Like so many people, we were saddened to hear of Dolly Parton's passing.

One of our favorite Dolly stories comes out of Leroy, West Virginia, where luthier Jim Sutherland built a custom guitar for the country music icon using beautiful hardwoods and supplies sourced in part from Woodcraft.

It seems fitting to revisit this remarkable story of craftsmanship, kindness, and an unforgettable meeting in Nashville.

We had a great turnout today for our first Stained Glass demonstration. Hans Meier gave a great overview of the process of creating beautiful stained glass projects.

Today was carving day at the alpharetta Woodcraft. We had Christine Smith teaching a power carving class in the back classroom, and Steve Wilensky teaching a character carving class in the front of the store. The front classroom had day one of a shaker table class. I’ll post photos of that tomorrow.

We had a great introduction to Bandsaws class today. The students successfully resawed a piece of walnut, rough cut a cheese board, made a bandsaw box, and as a bonus they made a toy car out of the waste from the drawer of the box. Safe to say including the teacher had a great time.
