It is hot but the air conditioner is not cooling the house. The fan is on inside the house and nothing is on outside. The compressor is not running any more. You need to know if the thermostat needs to be replaced.

How is this for a facelift for under $60? It's not a new porch light or a new set of house numbers but they sure are looking sharp. They were tarnished brown and for a long time hardly noticed from the street.

Do mechanics sabotage your car for you to return?
Seems like it.

I bought a 17 year old car that had a little over 120,000 miles on it. The few years before the last owner gave up, it had little use. It kept breaking down with electrical issues until it would not start or hold a charge in a new battery.

He sold it to me cheap enough to replace parts and give money away. First thing I did was take his suggestion to replace the fuel pump. Cost me nearly $450. It had no effect. I cleaned it well enough to go over the electrical system. Then a short was discovered on an alternator wire. It was not the original unit and the shorted wire had been routed to wrap around the metal fuel line. As the engine ran the metal line vibrated thru the plastic coat sheathing. This gave the computer an issue it could not resolve.

While under the car I found the metal transmission linkage pressed into the crank senor harness. The wire had been routed between the linkage and the sensor causing the same issue as the alternator. This added to the computer issues that resulted in the failure and replacement of the engine's computer. That cost another $420 and got the engine running.

It sure looks to me like that last mechanic was consistent with his method of operation. He may have cost the last owner plenty in return business and yes; it looks like sabotage to me.

This concrete fountain was left at the curb side after laying in pieces for more than 20 years in a neighbor's yard. It had been crushed by a falling tree. Many of the broken parts were saved and carefully stacked in the pile. Someone made an old attempt to glue a few parts with construction adhesive that served to prevent further damage from neglect.

Now patched with mortar mix cement, this piece can stand proud as functional addition to anyone's yard.

The neighbor has nothing but suggestions but has not made a single contribution to put this fence together.

This trampoline had stayed packed out on the patio for over a month. It had no place to go in the back yard that is on the slope of a hill. We took up a shovel and a hoe to level off a 10' terrace before considering to open the box.

Sometimes the job is hard to see without standing on the property to understand the client's point of view. The entrance of this house was getting flooded during a heavy summer rain.

Plumbers are not paid for making square holes with clean sides but that is what is needed to make a patch. This hole was big enough for the plumber and the tenant was getting upset with the sight of it. This took a 20" patch to span the opening.

For many years this paved patio was once a waist of dirt and scattered holes dug out by three small dogs. Throughout each wet Fall and Spring the ground turned to mud and attracted whatever the dogs liked to hunt. This kept the soil loose and fertile but useless to the home owner. We dug it all up and fortified the lawn in the back yard.
