HAC CAPTURING ADOPTION
Stanley Sibora (37) is a grower of vegetable and food crops from sirorisimba village in Butiama district, Mara region. He has been involved in agriculture since 2000, growing crops such as tomatoes, okra, hot peppers, eggplant, African Eg plant; when he started farming he faced the challenge of such low yields and diseases on crops.
In 2021 Stanley Sibora met Boaz Christopher HAC Extension Officer who selected him as a model farmer who owns a class of hybrid tomato class IMARA F1. Stanley Sibora was advised on best practices for tomato production including field distribution in proportional proportions, planting between row by row with plant to plant, planting using fertilizer with proper use, proper use of pesticides, trellising of tomatoes so they do not touch the ground as well as prevent harmful pests in tomatoes.
So far Stanley Sibora has set up a model class farm producing tomato crops by learning from HAC's field in collaboration with Extension Officer Boaz Christopher.
However Stanley Sibora uses his farms to train other farmers. He commends HAC for its efforts to educate farmers through FFS and recommends that the project expand its scope to reach more farmers. ” I have no way to thank HAC for the way its knowledge has propelled me from one stage to the next, ”said Stanley.
