We are in the middle of a deep and very snowy winter here on Väddö island❄️⛄️The locals say there hasn’t been that much snow since the 80s here! Although it is magically beautiful outside then we are in the low season of the accommodation business. Then again - the more time and space we have for other activities 🤗 Rain has always a pile of furniture to work on and we also have occasional weekends with open doors for all our neighbouring islanders with a little fika and/or flea market (“loppis” in Swedish). In November we had a lovely guest who is behind the podcast and she found our story so fascinating that she asked us to come and talk about it on her podcast🤗 And we did! Our episode came out a little before Christmas and we talked about how we ended up on Väddö, about our business and life in general. You can find it on Spotify or a podcast app. Besides the little introduction in the beginning our episode is in English👍 Hope you like it! Thank you Röster i Roslagen for having us❤️

Vi har ett trivsamt boende i en strandhus slämplig för två familjer eller grupper på upp till 8 vänner. 9 mil norr om Stockholm i vackert läge på ön Väddö med bakgård vid Väddöviken och ren natur runt om. Den charmiga gamla hamnbyn Grisslehamn ligger 5 km bort med butiker, restauranger, Eckerölinjens Ålandsbåten och det lyxiga spahotellet Havsbaden. Det finns lediga datum för kommande veckor up till Julen och vidare. Minst 2 nätter.

So grateful for all the wonderful guest we had this weekend from near and further away! This was our second time to have an open house like that and there are more people coming by now. Since we’d love to meet and greet even more of you there will definately be a next time soon! Meanwhile you are welcome to contact us if you have a piece of furniture that needs some love👍

The dark season is sneaking in. One might ask “what in the world would I do on Väddö during cold autumn and winter days..?!?!”🤔 Well we can assure you, that although it is not that buzzy as in the summer we have plenty of things to do and places to go around here. That is if you don’t find nature walks, having a good read or sitting by the fire amuzing🤗 Here are some of ours and our clients favourite suggestions.
1. - take a ride to Norrtälje and explore their lovely old town on the river with and small shops. Walk to the new posh harbour area or have great finds and nearby Norrtälje Pingstkyrkans second hand stores. Buy your bread and cinnamon buns always from the best local bakery Roslagsbageriet Hjmp AB
2. Have a stroll in our local garden center wirh a cafe and a gift shop.
3. Have a lunch and buy local delicacies Väddö Gårdsmejeri cafe & shop
4. Pat some alpacas and other farm animals
5. Spoil yourself - one of the best spas in the region👍 with several pools, saunas, treatments, à la carte restaurant, gym and entertainment center with games. Or just have a fika-buffet or a drink by a huge fireplace in their lobby👌
6. Bergby Gård is just across the big bridge on a walking distance and have a cafe and occasional great parties or concerts (video of St. Patricks day party with Swedish-Scottish group 👏)
7. has a restaurant and crazy good parties with the incredible DJ 🕺🏼

Trästa bridge is just next to our house and is one of the attractions around here. The views from and at the bridge are majestic. Sunsets, moonrisings, winter, spring, summer or fall - natures spectacles are breathtaking and you have the front row seat! It almost feels like sitting on a cloud. Heavenly.

Trästa bridge or “Trästabron” is one of the three and the biggest bridges connecting Väddö island with the mainland. Before it was built, there was a ferry across Väddöviken connecting Trästa village on the mainland and Fjäll village on Väddö.
Work on the new bridge began in June 1997 and was carried out under the direction of the Swedish Road Administration. The bridge is designed by an architect Sven Werner. It is 375 meters long and has a clear height of 17 meters. Trästabron was inaugurated in November 1998 and can be used by vehicle traffic, bicycles and pedestrians.

Spring is giving us the very first brave blooms (a wild cherry tree?)😍🌸 The beautiful walks on both shores of Väddöviken that we never get tired of are easy thanks to the majestic Trästa bridge. Totally in love with this place❤️❤️❤️

Rain working on a piece of furniture almost daily in his little workshop❤️ He says it is meditation for him. He loves to save furniture. There are countless chairs and tables and drawers and cabinets that have gained a new life and a new owner thanks to him. Today I (Kairit) am out on Xmas market🤗🎄selling some Christmas presents and decorations that otherwise can be bought at our house. We are planning on starting a little shop & cafe at our place on weekends starting from next year. 100% natural and healthy home fragrances and home products to name a few things we are selling.
