In 2012, my husband and I built a house. We bought a piece of land with an old barn, on top of a hill with the most amazing view ever. We then set about converting and extending the barn to make a beautiful home for our family. From nearly all of our windows we can see farmland, the mountains and the sea....truly stunning, in all seasons (even in the rain!)

Having negotiated all the choices and d

ecisions involved in building our home, we then set about trying to make it beautiful on the inside. I particularly love our living room, with our wood-burning stove and a grand piano. My husband is a professional pianist (and he's Swedish). Hopefully you can catch a picture of my favourite moments....sitting by the stove, enjoying our breathtaking views, listening to Jonas play beautiful music......well, that only happens when our children allow :-)

In furnishing our home, we had a particular problem with lampshades. In fact, many of our light fittings sat bare as we looked around the high street shops, only finding the same old shades of beige, mostly mass-produced and imported from abroad. Since I learned to make lampshades, our home has been filled with the character of many beautiful shades. Some, like those in our hallway, are bright and colourful......others are soft, subtle and romantic. All have been made with great care and attention to detail.
