40 years ago people laughed at sleep research saying it was meaningless and disgusting. Tarja Stenberg didn’t give up and found out that diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, alzheimer and depression were all related to sleep.

Wonder what people will say in 40 years when there is more research about the effects in our sleep from mobile phones, sleep trackers and latex/memory foams in our beds. Will they still laugh? Read about Tarjas interview or listen to her talk in Arenan

Teens who go to bed late and sleep-in are three times more likely to have asthma, because they disrupt their body clock. THAT has a knock-on effect on the immune function of the lungs (among other troubles). Trying to make a teenager go to bed early and put the phone off seems like an impossible task but it’s worth the fight. They might thank you later in life. In fact, parents who now during the summer allow their young kids to sleep at midnight (at the sane time they do) are creating a lifetime of troubles, and making it harder on themselves to set a limit when they become teenagers. The advice is to get the teenagers in bed between 9:30 and 10:30 AND put down ALL electronic devices 2 hours before that 😜 How’s that for a challenge? 💤 🙄 vs

Wise message from The Pope : REST at least ONE day as the Jews do with Shabbat! We live with the accelerator from morning to night. This ruins mental health, spiritual health and physical health. More so: it affectation and destroys the family and therefore the society. We must rest, and take time to play. At least one day a week. We are not machines. @ Sleep Revolution

So happy to find “Manners begin at breakfast” at our favorite bookstore in Sag Harbor today. A fun and very relevant modern etiquette book for families. I wonder if they need to add a chapter on homeschooling etiquette... anyway my favorite chapter is about screen time! We could probably all need a little guidance about that after this lockdown! Can only hope we get the best out of these times and build ourselves a better world . At the same time we cannot wait to enjoy life every day the best we can, postpone the joy of small things. Let’s find some reason to laugh, dance, learn something new, someone to love-including ourselves-and get pleasure. Life is here and now. ⭐️🌎🍏❤️😴.
