Under 2016 - 2017 genomförs ett förstudieprojekt med fokus på migration och innovation under ledning av Science Park Borås i samverkan med Marketplace Borås, Proteko, Modeink, Arbetsförmedlingen, Borås Stad, Kanico AB, TEKO samt forskare vid Centrum för
Hållbar Samhällsutveckling och Textilhögskolan i Borås. Initiativet finansieras av Asyl, Migration och Integrationsfonden (AMIF). Förstudiens syfte är att ta reda på förutsättningar för den svenska textilindustrin att ta tillvara på migrationens möjligheter. Konfektion 4.0 ses som en väg till arbetslivet i Sverige för migranter från tredjeländer med någon form av yrkesverksam bakgrund inom skrädderi, industri- eller konfektionssömnad. Idén handlar om skapa en testbäddsmiljö inklusive en levande fabriksprototyp för konfektionsindustrin. I prototypen ska prövas idéer för nya affärsmodeller kopplad till hållbar utveckling, samtidigt som maskinparken kan användas för validering av kompetens. Avsikten är att konfektionsfabriken ska drivas som en verksamhet med flexibla former, anställd personal, uthyrning av maskinpark till företag med egna anställda samt för solo-, mikro- och små och medelstora företag som erbjuder sina produkter eller tjänster. Verksamheten omfattar rådgivning, kompetensutveckling, validering, matchning samt textil sömnadsproduktion. Intentionen är också att på sikt kunna erbjuda ett nationellt och europeiskt centrum för rådgivning, kompetensutveckling, praktik, validering, matchning. Med utvecklingen av framgångsrika affärsmodeller bedöms goda förutsättningar finnas för konfektionsfabriken att växa och omfatta fler yrkesgrupper inom design, textil sömnadsproduktion och tillverkning.

MIGRATION & TEXTILE INNOVATION
Migrants with a professional background in manufacturing will be an asset in the return of the textile industry to Sweden at the local and regional levels of society. Science Park Borås is in partnership with different actors in academia, the public sector, the private sector, organisations and networks in civil society undertaking a pre-study to determine the need for new tools, methods and processes for validation and integration aimed at migrants with a professional background in manufacturing. The pre-study funded by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) 2016 - 2017 is the first step towards linking migration to textile innovation in setting up a test bed environment to support the development of new business models and factories of the future set in the context of Industry 4.0. This would be the first state-of-the-art test bed to help "re:shoring fashion" to be set up in Sweden and Northern Europe. The idea idea is to support the textile industry in the development of a more sustainable, consumer-driven and advanced digitisation of design, product development and manufacturing. This cannot be done without the access to skills - a strengthened and mobile European labour market - within textile and clothing sector. Manufacturing Fashion 4.0
With the new state-of-the art test bed to support Manufacturing Fashion 4.0, Science Park Borås aims to link migration to textile innovation and the up-grading of skills in Sweden. The important findings in the pre-study will lay the foundation towards the creation of a state-of-the-art test bed environment in Borås located in West Sweden (Västra Götaland) to support business and future-driven innovation in sustainable textiles. With our focus on sustainable textiles we really want to encourage new business models linked to new structures including the creation of new value in a circular economy and/or shared economy.
