The full scope remains unclear, but Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez confirmed on Wednesday, December 17, that at least "several dozen files" from confidential police databases were extracted from ministry servers by hackers. At least two important police databases were affected: the judicial records system (TAJ), which contains about 17 million records on perpetrators and victims of crimes or offenses, as well as the highly sensitive wanted persons file (FPR).
"I remain cautious. The investigation is ongoing," Nuñez said, not ruling out the possibility that larger volumes of data may have been stolen. "There has not been an extraction of millions of records," he said. "But I remain very cautious about the extent of the compromise."
The hack was claimed in the name of a well-known cybercriminal group, ShinyHunters, though this claim has not been verified.

Cloudflare new motto: Connecting people, disconnecting businesses 🤦

Cloudflare was temporarily down early on Friday, Dec. 5, after an intentional system change caused outages to some websites across the internet.
"A change made to how Cloudflare's Web Application Firewall parses requests impacted the availability of Cloudflare's network for several minutes today," Cloudflare's support team said in a statement before 5 a.m. EST.
The internet infrastructure platform emphasized that the outage was the result of a change made by its team — not an attack.
According to Downdetector, an outage-tracking website, reports of disruptions spiked across platforms like Fortnite, DoorDash, Chime and more around the same time as the Cloudflare incident..
This is the second Cloudflare outage in the last month.

Dintre toate figurile culturii românești, destinul lui Ciprian Porumbescu este, probabil, cel mai tragic.
