OUR STORY

It begins from a small house inside old Lahore in 1890, where a young kid had a dream to become a carpenter and wood craftsman. Mughal architecture and woodwork on the ancient buildings in Lahore inspired him the most. He started to fulfil his dream, but there was no such kind of institute at that time which offers any degree in woodworking or craftsmanship. So, he decided to learn from the most significant wood workers of that era, and sooner he got his skills polished in wooden facade making, decorative wooden doors and windows and all kind of furniture making. His name was Mian Ahmed Hussain. He started his own business of wood working at Barkat Ali Road, Outside Mochi Gate, Lahore (the oldest furniture market of sub-continent). Many renowned craftsmen and carpenters of that time appreciated his work and skills in wood working. Today if you see inside old Lahore, most of the decorative facades and doors of old buildings are made by him. This is our heritage and our background. He established a furniture manufacturing factory in late 1930’s. But he faced a lot of hardships and problems during the time of partition. He lost almost everything but not the skills. He worked by hand for almost 70 years of his life.

His youngest son, Mr. Javaid Hussain stepped in and took responsibility to handle his father’s business. He was only 13 when he took this decision and he continued his studies as well and got a master’s degree in commerce in 1969. Then he formally owned his father’s business and started woking very hard for success by maintaining the superlative quality and workmanship. He gathered the best production team from all over Pakistan and established the state of the art furniture manufacturing unit in late 70’s. Then he further expanded the business by launching Desires Interiors and Furnishers by establishing a modern display centre at Maulana Shaukat Ali road, Lahore in 1999.

Today Mr. Anees Javaid and Mr. Ahsan Javaid, sons of Mr. Javaid Hussain are running their grand father’s business. Mr. Anees Javaid got Master’s degrees in Interior Design and Communication Design while Mr. Ahsan Javaid is completing his graduation in Furniture Design.

Desires produces exclusive furniture that is entirely handmade. However besides the artistic value another feature of our product that we take a serious care of is its high quality. We always make great efforts to achieve our goal of making the finest product and delivering the best to our clients. That’s why we have an efficient control system for each stage of the production. Its goal is to make each item perfect and make our furniture not only be recognized as a valuable artwork but also serve for its direct purpose for many years.
