A chair that creates a space of its own.

Designed by Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien in 2014, Almora takes its name from the Indian region overlooking the Himalayas. Its layered, enveloping form was conceived as both a retreat and a place of connection, offering a sense of protection without closing the sitter off from their surroundings.

More than a seat, Almora captures Doshi Levien’s idea of the "object as space": furniture that shapes not only how we sit, but how we experience the world around us.

Designer Spotlight: Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien ✨

Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien met at the Royal College of Art before establishing their London-based studio, Doshi Levien. Nipa brings a perspective shaped by her upbringing and visual culture in India, while Jonathan draws from his training in fine cabinetmaking and industrial design.

Together, they bring culture, technology, and craftsmanship, into conversation—an approach reflected in their designs for B&B Italia, from Almora and Do-Maru to the Bay collection.

Designed by Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien in 2016, Do-Maru takes its name and inspiration from the lightweight armor once worn by samurai. Its overlapping shells wrap around the body much like the protective layers of its namesake, while upholstered inner cushions soften the structure for comfort.

A prime example of industrial precision and craftsmanship. A fitting introduction to the world of Doshi Levien.
