we often define our sense of home through the little things we become familiar with. how our bodies know exactly where to reach for the nail cutter. or how we notice the same corner collecting dust week after week.

right now, we're still getting to know this new space. we're learning where the morning light falls, which windows we instinctively open first, and where things naturally find their place.

familiarity requires time. we don't know how long it will take. weeks, months, maybe longer. but there is something special about being in this in-between. ☁️

troy and i finally decided to move somewhere more quiet. we've been shedding a lot lately and our bodies seem to be searching for that sense of "rebirth". is this a common experience when youve just turned 30?

i can still remember our first morning in this home. how the light entered through the kitchen window. it was magical to witness. since burt is blind, we always felt sorry for him whenever he bumped his head after the furniture was rearranged. poor burt! it took us almost a year to find a rhythm that allowed him to move around with ease too.

when we rented this place, we have this awareness that one day we would leave. so we learned to love it without holding on too tightly. and i guess that day has finally come.

we cant wait to show you the place we’re moving into.
it has a view of the rice fields and the yard is huge enough for sai to run. its funny how our dogs ended up influencing some of the biggest decisions of our lives.

wherever the universe takes us,
it feels like an exciting path to be on. ♡

this is one of those moments we wish time would slow down a little more. hours talking about our childhood, the story behind each tea we brought to share & witnessing a fairy blue bird appear in front of us ♡

hello friends 👋🏼 this is troy. i was alone in the west side of tokyo for a week. there was (beautiful) nothingness and nature was my only form of entertainment. i cooked my meals, brewed my tea, and walked like time is almost non existent. i'll share more in the next few days. 🌱

sai, you’re a lucky dog.

you went through cancer, distemper, neglect, and survived all of it. we’ve always felt the universe gave you to us at the most perfect time, right at your lowest. because otherwise, you might have continued suffering, and we can’t bear the thought of that.

when i gave you a collar, i didn’t even notice that it said “lucky dog.” until a friend pointed at it during one of our sunset walk and smiled “yes, sai, you are a lucky dog.” and maybe she is. and somehow, so are we. ♡

this is the longest we’ve stayed in la union during summer. most people leave, and we understand why. no surf, too hot, and brownouts that come too often. but this year, we stayed. and somehow, we felt like being kids again looking for something to do. drives to the falls, learning pickleball, staying in the water for hours like we used to at the pool. staying taught me that learning and enjoyment don’t end with childhood. sometimes, growing up just means finding new ways to play.

we shared a few of these slow summer days on our youtube ♡

if anyone knows our journey, it’s kuya jeffrey.

he was with us when we first opened our shop, and stayed as we turned it into our home. he saw us through difficult seasons. days when our mattress had to stay on display on our shop, so we slept on the floor. we held onto trust in kuya’s hands that kept building alongside us.

we believed in his skill that the little details in our home carry that trust.

our old shop now our home? he built it alongside with us.
remember our shop door? he made it by hand.
our concrete floor, he finished them himself.
our windows, he found a way to make them work.
remember super typhoon emong? kuya helped rebuild four roofs and one home with us.

me and troy always measure success through our staffs’ growth and stability. we are interdependent. if we see them suffering, we try our best to help. for us, growth only feels like success when the people beside us are growing too.

kuya has been with us even before all of this had a name, and until now, still building with us.

happy labor day! ♡

in the end, bringing something home isn’t about the name. it’s about how it fits into our life.
