This is a commissioned keepsake/jewelry box. The sister of my good friend was visiting from the USA and wanted to commission a keepsake box as a Christmas gift for her husband who collects boxes. Although the deadline was tight and expectations are high, I accepted the commission since I was itching to learn a new skill specifically known as inlaid dovetails.

I hope the recipient/box collector will appreciate my sleepless nights.

Made from White Ash (panels), Mahogany (panel frames), Padauk (handle, inlays, and feet).

I saw a unique butterfly joint on the internet then I remembered one of my clients mentioning to me that he wanted a storage for his butterfly knife collection. This was my chance!

I built this piece without asking him if he was still interested. True enough, when I posted the piece, he was the very first person who claimed that it’s his:)

Made from Mahogany(carcass and drawer sides/back), Yellow Narra(drawer fronts), and Padauk(drawer pulls and butterfly inlay). No screws nor nails were used in this piece.

I previously made a guitar stand for my daughter’s old guitar (that she never uses). When I posted it, there was an immediate request for one that is 2-toned.

A college buddy of mine saw the second stool that I made and wanted to purchase it. I told him that it was already sold but I was about to make another one with a piece of lumber that had “character”. I sent him a picture and he said “sold!”

Made from Acacia with no nails nor screws. The white part is a natural color from the edges of the acacia wood.

I wanted to try making a breadboard style table top since I think it is the second most stable construction style and it looks really fantastic. After days of labor I posted the finished piece and I had the worst of luck… my sister saw it and “asked” if it could be my birthday gift:(

Made from Mahogany and Yellow Narra.

My first stool! I finished this piece during Christmas time and when I initially posted it on my personal page, my cousin sent me a message saying that she did not have a gift for her husband and would like to purchase this piece. I was very flattered since her husband was in the business of buying, selling, and collecting high-end art.

This piece is made from Acacia and no nails nor screws was used.

This is another chair designed with no back posts. It is a variation of my ”Queen Chair” because of the added arm rest and this design was dubbed as the “King Chair”.

This prototype was purchased together with a ”Queen Chair”.

The chair is made of Acacia except for the backrest which is made of Walnut.

I wanted to build a sexy and modern minimalist chair so I designed this chair without back posts but firmly secured the backrest to the seat. The first impressions of people is “yeah it’s sexy but will the backrest take the weight?” I’ve stressed tested it with a an almost 200 lbs person by letting him sit down, lean on the back rest, and backwards with all his weight (which is NOT how people really sit) … no problems at all. Someone purchased this prototype together with the prototype of my “King Chair”.

This chair which was dubbed as the ”Queen Chair” is made from Mahogany(seat), White Ash(backrest and legs), and Padauk(headrest). Assembled using no nails nor screws.

This was my very first attempt to build a Sam Maloof-inspired rocking chair which is one of the holy grails of woodworkers. It wasn’t perfect but I was very proud to build such a very complicated piece. I’m not sure if I should be happy or sad when a very good friend of mine bought it. I can’t wait to find time to build another one.

Made from Rosewood (seat and arm rest), Padauk (back splat), White Ash (back splat sandwiched in between the Padauk), Yellow Narra (headrest, front and back legs), and some hardwood that I bought long time ago (rockers).
