LRI Design Plaza has its humble beginnings as a furniture factory in the 1970βs. Alex Lo Kiong learned how to weave rattan furniture at an early age. Through sheer hard work and frugality, he established Luzon Rattan Industries, one of the pioneers in the furniture export industry in the Philippines.
The next generation of the family relocated the busy factory outside of Metro Manila and rented out the building as office space. In 2005, the family decided to transform the three story complex into a furniture and home furnishings mall and invited fellow furniture exporters and friends in the industry to set up shop. Thus, LRI Design Plaza was born, the first of its kind in the country.
Today, LRI Design Plaza is at the forefront of the promotion of local design and art. Visitors are astonished by store after store of carefully curated collections made by local manufacturers and designed by Filipino talent. Aside from furniture showrooms, art galleries, architects and interior designers call LRI Design Plaza their home.
