Bikol Pili GI has now been launched!

Multi-stakeholders—from farmers, processors, and producers to government agencies and the academe—gathered in a shared commitment to advance the registration of “Bikol Pili” as a Geographical Indication.

Led by DTI Region V Bicol and Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines, together with the National GI Consultant and partners, the Kick-off Ceremony was held today, February 20, at the DTI Region V Conference Room.

Orgullo Kan Bikol Association proudly stands in partnership as we continue to celebrate and champion the richness of Bikol Pili.

Project BRIDGE Strengthens Multi-Sector Collaboration Through MOA Signing

A partnership and Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing formally launched Project BRIDGE, bringing together the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), partner municipalities, Bicol University, government agencies, and private sector representatives to advance inclusive development initiatives.

The event highlighted a unified commitment to collaboration, capacity building, and community empowerment through programs designed to create meaningful opportunities for beneficiaries.

Orgullo Kan Bikol Association (OKB), represented by VP for Catanduanes, Ms. Maria Florisa Teves, joined as one of the partner representatives and shared a message of support on behalf of the OKB President, reinforcing its role in supporting multi-stakeholder efforts that connect institutions, communities, and industry.

Through Project BRIDGE, partners aim to strengthen cooperation across sectors and implement sustainable initiatives that promote skills development, livelihood opportunities, and social reintegration.

𝗢𝗞𝗕-𝗕𝗶𝗸𝗼𝗹 𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗶 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝘀

The Orgullo Kan Bikol Association (OKB) took part in the Training of Trainers on the Development and Promotion of Collective Marks, hosted by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in collaboration with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) from December 17 to 19 at Makati Diamond Residences.

Representing OKB, Erika O. Pereña, President of the association, shared the organization’s experience in advancing the Bikol Pili Collective Mark, highlighting the role of collective branding in protecting local products, empowering producers, and strengthening regional identity. Her participation underscored OKB’s commitment to championing intellectual property as a strategic tool for inclusive and sustainable development in the Bicol Region.

The three-day training gathered change makers, association leaders, and cooperative representatives from across the country—many of whom are stewards of established collective marks and geographical indications (GIs). Through interactive sessions and knowledge-sharing, participants deepened their understanding of best practices in developing, managing, and promoting collective marks, while exploring ways to transfer these learnings to their respective communities.

OKB’s participation in the program reinforces its role as a regional advocate for intellectual property education and capacity building, ensuring that lessons from global and national experts are translated into actionable support for local enterprises. The training also strengthened collaboration among IP stakeholders working toward the shared goal of elevating Philippine products through protection, quality, and collective pride.

OKB and Partners Bring FinTech Solutions Closer to Catanduanes MSMEs

Catanduanes MSMEs, students, and faculty members gained practical knowledge on digital finance and innovation during the seminar “Innovation in Action: Fintech for MSMEs” led by the Orgullo Kan Bikol (OKB) Association. Held in partnership with the Catanduanes Chamber of Commerce & Industry, JCI Catanduanes, the DTI Catanduanes, DTI Region V Bicol, and the Catanduanes State University (CatSU), the event emphasized the role of financial technology in driving inclusive economic growth.

The seminar featured distinguished guests from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Southern Luzon Regional Office—Ms. Paulette Gay Menguilla, Bank Officer IV, and Mr. Rhoel Guarin, Acting Area Manager of BSP Legazpi—who discussed accessible fintech tools and services that MSMEs and students can adopt to improve operations, expand markets, and enhance financial literacy.

With strong collaboration among public and private stakeholders, the initiative reflects a shared commitment to empowering Catanduanes entrepreneurs and the youth to embrace innovation and navigate the digital economy with confidence.
