In 1919, Pedro Abendan started a guitar shop in Lincoln Street, Cebu City, where he makes and sells guitars and banjos. The skills and the business is passed to his children with different business names: Nely’s Guitar, D’Original Guitar Store, Custom Guitar, and etc.
More than 60 years later, Fernando "Andoy" Abendan Dagoc, the son of Nely, asked himself the question, “Can our guitars compete in the global market?”. This question sparked the research of lute-making, which he saw a lot of things which needs to be improved. And the development of high-quality solid wood instruments that can compete in the global arena.
Through this research and development, and trial and errors, Andoy trained selected luthiers in Lapu-Lapu City. He taught them the new techniques, and procedures apart from what they have been used to.
With his burning passion of making high-quality solid wood instruments, instruments that can compete on the global arena, instruments with the best possible sound, and instruments with a mark of Filipino craftsmanship, he started Ferangeli Guitar Handcrafter.
Now, Ferangeli Guitar Handcrafter is exporting guitars, ukuleles, rondalla instruments, and etc. to different parts of the globe, with customers from the US, Canada, UK, France, Japan, Australia, and so on. Still, we make the Cebu's finest handcrafted guitars and we aim to produce instruments with the best possible sound the wood can offer.
