The completed bamboo bilao, crafted by the students of Famy National Integrated High School during the workshop, were officially handed over to the LPU Laguna - Brgy Makiling Community Farm and Mushroom Garden. These will serve as functional tools for sorting, drying, and displaying farm produce, highlighting the value of locally made and sustainable materials.

This handover represents more than just a donation—it reflects collaboration, cultural preservation, and the impact of connecting communities through shared initiatives. 🎋🌱

Our bamboo weaving workshop with Mr. Ronnie V. Valois was successfully conducted together with the high school students of Famy National Integrated High School. Guided by Sir Ronnie and his wife, the students had the opportunity to learn the process of bamboo craftsmanship and create their own bilao, gaining hands-on appreciation of this traditional skill.

More than just a workshop, this initiative became a space for sharing knowledge, preserving heritage, and empowering the youth to continue a tradition rooted in Famy, Laguna. Seeing the students actively participate and complete their outputs reflects the impact of this collaboration.

With grateful hearts, we celebrate the success of this activity and extend our sincere thanks to everyone who made this possible. This project was not without challenges, as we went through different plans and redirections before finally arriving at where we are today. From our initial ideas to finding the right community and purpose, every step led us to something more meaningful. This journey reminded us that sometimes, the best outcomes come from being open to change. In the end, we are grateful that it led us here and together, we continue to support local artisans and keep our cultural traditions alive.

At the Anilag Festival, we reunited with Mr. Ronnie V. Valois and witnessed the inspiring “Libreng Gulay” program in action. It was truly fulfilling to see the 40 pieces of bilao he crafted being used as containers for fresh vegetables—showcasing not only their functionality but also the value of locally made bamboo products in community initiatives.

During the visit, we also took the opportunity to update and distribute Sir Ronnie’s calling cards to help promote his craftsmanship and connect him with more people. Through small but meaningful efforts like these, we continue to support local artisans and ensure that their skills and traditions gain the recognition they deserve.
