Do you remember us? 🤍
It’s been a while.
And looking at this old photo, I can’t help but smile at how unexpectedly all of this started.
Because before there was a store…
before there were suppliers, delivery riders, hundreds of orders, and a showroom…
there was just one table.
In 2021, I was a med student who had suddenly lost her scholarship and found herself having to pause medical school and figure out what to do next.
I had a study table and some book stands that I was no longer using, so I decided to sell them.
I posted them online.
Someone bought my table.
Then the messages started coming.
“Is this still available?”
“Do you have another one?”
“Can I order one?”
The funny thing was…
I didn’t have another one. 😂
But I needed the income, so I thought, why not look for one?
So I searched for a supplier.
I negotiated prices.
I revived my old page.
And I posted:
“Now Available: Study tables.”
I had no business plan.
No capital set aside for a furniture business.
Honestly, I didn’t even know I was starting a business.
I was simply trying to figure out what I could do next.
And then that little post went viral.
It reached people beyond Davao, even people from Visayas and Luzon started messaging.
And somehow, Bea & Bianca Co. was born.
At the beginning, there was no store.
No warehouse.
No delivery rider.
No staff.
There was just me.
Answering messages.
Posting.
Taking orders.
Picking up stocks directly from the supplier.
Driving around.
And personally delivering furniture to customers.
Even to other cities.
Sometimes for a delivery fee that probably wasn’t even worth the gas.
But I didn’t mind.
Because every order meant that someone trusted this little business I was trying to build.
And I will always be grateful for that.
And yes…
my very first delivery assistant was my daughter. 😂🤍
She came with me on those early deliveries, sitting in the back of the car while I drove around delivering furniture.
This photo was taken during one of those days.
Looking at it now, I realize how little we had back then, and how much hope there was in that little car.
Then, in February 2022, something I never imagined when I sold that first table happened:
We opened our first physical store.
That little idea that started with one unused study table became hundreds of orders, countless conversations, long drives, mistakes, lessons, friendships, and memories that I still carry with me today.
Many of the people who were part of those early days were students.
Some were furnishing their first homes.
Some were starting families.
Some were simply there to support a small business they believed in.
And some of the medical students who bought their study tables from us are now doctors. 🥹
It’s funny how quickly life moves.
In 2024, we eventually closed our doors and stepped away from the business. Life had changed, and it was time for me to focus on other things.
Looking back now, I realize that Bea & Bianca taught me much more than I ever expected a furniture business could.
It taught me how to start before I felt ready.
How to figure things out along the way.
How much can happen when you simply take the next step.
And most of all, how something that begins out of necessity can eventually become something you look back on with so much gratitude.
I don’t know exactly what the next chapter holds for Bea & Bianca Co.
But I know that I’m grateful for the chapter that came before it.
For the one table that started it all.
For every customer who trusted me.
For every delivery, every late night, every lesson, and every person who became part of the story.
