Today, storms can be predicted. With the help of Dost_pagasa, malalaman natin kung kailan magkakaroon ng storm/rain. Hindi maiiwasan magkaroon ng storm but you can prepare for it with their help. But during the time of Jesus, there were no weather forecasters that will warn them about the incoming storm.
In the Bible, the disciples of Jesus experienced a storm while they're on a lake called Sea of Galilee. Most of them are fishermen who can actually swim. Seeing them getting afraid of the waves means the weather is very dangerous. They're afraid! They're anxious!
In the same way, we will go through the storms in our lives. It is inevitable and unexpected. The storms represent circumstances/problems. Problems and heartbreaks will come unexpectedly. Perhaps there's a storm in you that is too strong to the point that you wanna give up. Perhaps the storm in your life is you lost a loved one, financial, small group, family, friends, etc.
But what is your response? Are you going to be afraid? Or are you going to have faith?
The disciples were afraid! That was their response! Not only that, they rowed hard para makaalis sa situation nila but they're still there. Have you experienced this? 'Yung meron kang problema and you did your best to get out of that problem pero ang ending, andoon ka pa rin? Many people today, when they're going through something, their first response is to get themselves distracted by drinking wine/beer or even smoke. They depend on themselves as if they can get out of their situation on their own and starting to forget that we can rely on Jesus.
What is your situation right now? And how are you dealing it? Are you dealing it on your own or you're dealing it with The Lord? Jesus knew their exact situation. He knew that they're struggling and in distress so He came to them and told them to not be afraid and to take courage because Jesus was with them! In the same way with us, as we struggle with a lot of circumstances, you are not alone! Jesus is with you!
