International imports are taking longer to arrive than expected and with Christmas fast approaching, now is a great time to rethink how you are making your gift purchases this year.
Focusing on buying from within the local economy impacts so much more than contributing to the income of the business. Your support for New Zealand small businesses impacts a parents ability to provide for their family, keeps people employed and independent and reduces the carbon emissions produced from shipping the item into the country.
Take the lead and try supporting local this year with your gift-giving. People around you notice your actions and where you spend your money without them even asking - in the clothing you wear, what you decorate your house with or what you eat.
If you mostly buy stuff online, consider purchasing from within New Zealand the next time you need to buy something.
To check if a shop is New Zealand-based:

๐ try to change your search engine to view "Pages from New Zealand"
๐ check if the website has a .co.nz in the address like ours https://westcoasttimbertreasures.co.nz
๐ check their website contact page or page if you can find an address
๐ if all else fails, just message the shop and ask where they are located!
