We have our first rental at Old Tokaora available early June 2026 and currently kitting out our second rental for the Kākata site ready in a ‘couple months’ time. Both homes are 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom.

We are seeking expressions of interest from Ōkahu Inuāwai whānau.

When deciding on the successful whānau, Trustees consider:

Whakapapa to Ōkahu-Inuwai; and

Commitment to Pā and/or Hapū kaupapa

Financial planning and home ownership aspirations

Should multiple interested whānau meet the above criteria, Income/financial need and whānau size will also be considered.

Expression of interest – available to start in two weeks

We have a lot of kaupapa happening at our Pā and Hapū, so we are moving things around – ensuring we have the right people in the right roles. We are now looking for uri who can ensure the ongoing success of our Tapuwae Pae Pātūtū – Hapū base training programmes.

These functions are for people who have experience in spades, get job satisfaction from serving, but want work/life balance:

Kaiwhakahaere – Tapuwae Pae Pātūtū
Kaiwhirinaki Tauira – Tapuwae Pae Pātūtū

As we are still in the establishment phase, these functions are short-term contract for services.

Tapuwae Pae Pātūtū

Last year we successfully launched the L3 Trades training programme in partnership with WITT at our Tokaora training site, where tauira build practical construction skills while building affordable rentals for our hapū. This year we have launched the second cohort, and hope to add horticulture in July. Our aim is to ensure that we:

Continue with our high level of manaakitanga that has resulted in our high tauira retention rate, and the successful transition of tauira into employment
Encourage a pipeline of uri training that leads to serving their Pā and Hapū
Build a sustainable operating model leading into 2027

This is an expression of interest process of two broad functions, depending on the skills and experience the configuration of these functions may vary slightly based on final negotiation. If you are interested in the kaupapa, but unsure of best fit – please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

For our kaumatua & kuia, we have a koha-based marae, monthly mirimiri morning.

Mirimiri areas:
- Upoko (head)
- Ringaringa (hands)
- Waewae (feet)
- Haurua Tīnana (half body)

If you would like to book in before the day, comment on this thread or contact us. Otherwise, just turn up, first in, first served.

Watch this space as we intend to extend healing to romiromi, mau tō hā (seated breathing), oro Ātua (sound healing) but need help from you, whānau & friends of our pā.

Thank you to all of our whānaunga who have ordered from our “Ngāhuru Chutney Fundraiser” for the Pā. We still have Apple Chutney and Apple Chilli Chutney available for order.

If you haven’t made payment already, please do so before 5pm this Wednesday.

We will then deliver your orders to the pickup locations at Te Korowai o Ngāruahine (Te Hāwera) and Ngāruahine Iwi Health Services (Manaia) this Thursday.
