Stoked to cut the ribbon on New Zealand’s first zero silica engineered stone fabrication business in Richmond this morning!

Congratulations to AGB Stone owners Cam and Chris Paranthoiene, and their son Will and his partner Sophie on this exciting new initiative, and thank you for choosing to open your new factory in Nelson!

Labour Workplace Relations and Safety spokesperson Jan Tinetti has supported the call from the NZ Council of Trade Unions for a ban on engineered stone that contains silica. Australia has banned it and so should we, and it’s disappointing that the government have failed to act to protect workers.

Silica products can cause silicosis, which is why a ban is needed. In the meantime, it’s great to see a business like AGB Stone taking steps to make their workplace safer and to put the health and safety of their workers first. Congratulations!
