story began in 1937, when 12-year-old David Arthur Lewis started crafting letterboxes to sell to Smiths City. After completing his cabinet-making apprenticeship, he founded D A Lewis & Company in 1946. The business grew fast, moving to Manchester Street in 1961. e proudly operated ever since. David made the DA Lewis name a hallmark of high-quality, New Zealand-made furniture. Today, the second and third generations of the Lewis family continue his legacy of craftsmanship, customer care, and strong community values.
