Some of you may know that I also oversee the Stagecraft Programme at Riverlea Theatre.

There is something for everyone - aged 6-18 but for Teens I would highly recommend the Trinity College Acting Exam class on Tuesday night where you can gain an international qualification in acting.

We've also got a comprehensive junior programme this year (ages 6-12) with classes in Musical Theatre, Acting, and Theatrical dance.

Stagecraft offers your rangatahi the opportunity to expand on their early interest in music, drama, and performance in a safe and nurturing environment. Our community experts have been hand-picked to deliver arts education that gives young people real time experience in a working theatre environment...

in 2022 we are adding Trinity College Exams for teens. Our Musical Theatre Exam class is already full, but our Drama exam class still has space. Come join the fun!!

What a year! So proud of all my students at Hillside studios. We’ve had amazing results in classical and musical theatre exams, coveted roles gained in school and local productions, and been recipients of special awards - all reflections of the talent I am lucky enough to nurture on a day to day basis.

Fabulous news for Hillside students

Jack landing the role of Gaston in Hamilton Musical Theatre Inc ‘s Beauty and the Beast, and Paige and Jess landing the roles of Silly Girls also in Beauty and the Beast.

Fleur and Isaac have auditioned successfully for St Peter’s School of Rock with Isaac taking the role of Ned and Fleur taking the role of Sophie.

Also massive congrats to Jack who has gained entry into Wintecs musical Theatre programme beginning next year.

A big shout out to every single one of my hard working talented students, especially those sitting their Trinity College musical theatre exams this week. While Covid has affected our live exams for this round, our digital exams are now live!

We’re right in the thick of Hamilton Vocal Comps and running today is The Waikato Young Singer. To all my awesome young students competing- Toi toi! I thought this video was pretty relevant for performers too and worth a watch. Mindset is important.

Auditions are now open for ALL TOGETHER NOW! at Riverlea Theatre. We invite you to join us in the global event.

Every theatre has the opportunity to perform All Together Now! as a fundraiser to help out post Covid and we are delighted to be putting this fundraiser together and performing it at the Dr John Gallagher Concert Chamber at the University of Waikato.

Please prepare a song from the following list for your audition.

Youth aged between 10 - 15, please provide a video submission as your audition piece and email to [email protected] by Friday 30th July.

All others 16 and over, please email [email protected] with your name, and contact number to book a short time slot to perform your piece at your audition on Saturday, August 14th at Riverlea.

Please provide your own backing track. No acapella.

You are not required for all rehearsals, they will be in timeframes based on songs over those days so you do need to be available. Please do not audition if you cannot commit to those timeframes.
