So proud of these ladies and their coaches etc... we've been proud to help them along the way... LEGENDS!!!

The 2026 season will be remembered as another successful year for our Northcote Women's team, achieving the remarkable feat of becoming back-to-back champions while completing the entire season undefeated. Through a combination of strong leadership, commitment and a team-first culture, the squad set a new benchmark for success and look to challenge itself next year at Premier One level.

A key factor behind this achievement was the coaching group's focus on creating a positive and inclusive environment while maintaining high standards on and off the field. With 33 registered players, including 16 new players joining the club this season, the emphasis on player development, skill progression and building confidence was front of mind. Our rugby profile allowed us to play a little differently based on trust and communication. We had some outstanding match moments, and this can be celebrated by points scored 411 and against 124. The coaching staff's commitment to developing depth within the squad meant that both experienced players and newcomers were able to contribute throughout the season.

Our team culture highlights the impact the ladies have contributed to by their unwavering support, competitiveness during training and their quirky antics when they think no one is watching. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our valued sponsors, Pet Doors Are Us and LTM McGuinness, whose support has played an important role in the continued growth and success of our programme. Their commitment helps provide opportunities for our players and reward for their commitment and hard work.

Special mention to our leadership group Mari-Lyn, Holly, Aaliyah and Trinity for being the conduit between staff and players. To see their growth and belief through leadership is a big part of the team’s success. The support from the club, especially Raelene for her comms support and Jos for organising events in the background. Also to the assistant coaches Dion and Lyle, thank you for your dedication, support, and commitment to building an environment where players could thrive both on and off the field.

Finally, to my co-coach and manager, the sisters most loyal to the club, Tash and Noush, thank you for your trust, support and belief in the journey we have been on together. Your passion for Northcote, commitment to our players and excitement for what lies ahead are a big part of why I am here. This season's success belongs to everyone who contributed, and with promotion secured, the future is incredibly bright for our women's rugby programme.

no longer have this little warrior in our midst and there as my office buddy every day x
Samson had mouth surgery/dental work last week and also a biopsy taken after a massive growth was found in the roof of his mouth, with the cancer diagnosis received yesterday afternoon and him being so 'down' and in pain/struggling since that operation... we had to make that awful decision to let him go.
Our vets came out and he passed here at home around midday yesterday, surrounded by love, knowing he will forever be loved and missed by us all ###
Thanks for the years of love and friendship little man.
For those of you who knew him, thanks for being his friend and loving him as much as we did over the years ###
So surreal here at present - I bet Harry was there to greet him with a swot... and then a hug!
My office is so empty with both my 'work colleagues' & 'office buddies' gone both within months of each other ###

Apologies if you called today and I didn't answer the phone - please call again and leave a message and I shall return your call tomorrow... devastating and sad news today had me unable to be there for you... my baby boy, our 'staff' and little 'Ginger Ninja' Harry found out that the road was not a great place for cats - our thanks to the person that took his body to the local vets where they could phone us and we could pick him up for cuddles before taking him to our usual vets for cremation ... give those fur babies an extra cuddle from us, hold them dear, whisper in their ears to stay safe... it's always so hard as they are their own bosses and no matter how hard we tried nor what we did we couldn't avoid this happening for our dear wee man ###
He was always such a character of a cat... remembering him like this...
Thanks for your understanding x

Restores our faith in the next generation looking after the Earth and creatures on it!!! What a couple of LEGENDS!!!

We'd like to say a huge thank you to Daniel and David, who have been very busy over the school holidays! ❤️ They've made lots of dog and cat toys, towers and condos for mice, a couple of fleece forests, and even spent time cutting up rags for us. We really appreciate all of their hard work!

Be sure to check out our SPCA Kids page for ideas and instructions on how to make enrichment toys: https://kids.spcaeducation.org.nz/get-involved/things-to-make-or-do/

Thank you, on behalf of the animals! 🙌

Something you never want to have to use - but to to know it could save pets lives....

Today is , a reminder that knowing how to save a life—especially our furry friends—can make all the difference. While having to administer CPR to your pet can be terrifying, being prepared can help you act calmly and confidently in an emergency.

Stay Calm:
1️⃣ Breathe: Take a few deep breaths to steady yourself. Focus on the feeling of the air filling your lungs.
2️⃣ Delegate: If there are bystanders, assign them tasks like finding the nearest emergency vet.
3️⃣ Focus: Keep your mind clear. Concentrate on the steps ahead and stay in the moment.

When to Start CPR:
🐾 Your pet isn’t responding
🐾 Your pet isn’t breathing
🐾 You can’t feel a heartbeat or pulse

How to Perform CPR:
Compressions:
❤️ Position your pet on their side.
❤️ Deliver 120 compressions per minute (2 per second).
❤️ For every 30 compressions, give 2 breaths.

Breaths:
❤️ Close your pet’s mouth and seal it with your fingers.
❤️ Cover their nose and give 2 breaths—enough to make their chest rise.
❤️ Check for a heartbeat after 2 minutes. If there’s no pulse, continue.

When to Stop CPR:
🐾 Your pet starts breathing and responding
🐾 You reach the vet clinic and they take over
🐾 You can’t continue physically
🐾 Your pet starts breathing but is still unconscious

Recovery Position:
Place your pet’s head to the side, slightly tilting down (unless there’s head trauma).

Compression Techniques:
🐶 Medium to Large Dogs: Compress one third of the chest depth.
🐱 Small Dogs/Cats: Use your thumb and fingers for compression, or compress directly over the heart.

Stay prepared and know that you can make a difference in your pet's life! ❤️
