GBNF our Brother John Smith and Founder of God’s Squad CMC ❤️🙏🏼
Today marks the 7th anniversary of the sad passing of Smithy.
Kevin John Smith, Smithy, The Reverend Doctor, Bullfrog, John, The General. Our commander in chief, our president and for nearly five decades, our teacher. He was an academic, a pastor, a preacher, a prophetic voice, an irritant to a comfortable church, an advocate for justice, the poor, the marginalised and the arts. A music lover, bookworm and biker, and more significantly, John was a husband, father, grandpa, brother and uncle.
We remember him today as the founder of God’s Squad CMC Melbourne and president of our chapter for nearly 4 decades. He was our first International president who took our ministry beyond Melbourne, and beyond our shores. He was well known throughout the biker world, conducting weddings, funerals, child dedications and had visited hundreds of clubhouses throughout the world, almost always receiving a warm welcome.
Today we remember Glena and his family, his children and grandchildren who we know miss him dearly. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with you all.
We are thankful John for your time with us and for teaching us what it was to be a follower of Jesus, the Jesus who spent his time on the margins and calls us to do likewise today.
