As a fresh graduate without work qualification, it’s already hard to get a chance in the highly competitive job market. However, that shouldn’t deter you in your quest to build up your and make yourself readily employable. One way of doing this is by applying for volunteering jobs and unpaid internship.
Given, it’s almost always an issue when you think of volunteering for unpaid work, when money is currently a big issue. But trust me, over the years, one thing I have come to learn is that making a conscious effort to ramp up your CV by engaging in unpaid volunteer work always pays of in the end. The experience you garner from all those unpaid efforts would readily come in handy one day and make you attractive to employers looking to hire.
Another way to bulk up your CV is to learn a skill. These days, with the proliferation of information and communication technology, there are a litany of online courses one could learn with little or zero finance. You could acquire any of these skills based on your passion and interest, then add to your certificate or degree, and help improve your chances in the job market.
If you are tech-savvy with a zeal to learn some digital skills online, I’ll suggest you search for Tech Skills Hack on Facebook and join the group. The team there, led by the inimitable Inioge Udo, is doing a wonderful job helping people to learn valuable skills that could help boost their career path in future.
Don’t forget that a CV with a litany of internship and volunteer work experiences peppered with actionable skill set always stands a good chance in the job market over one presented by someone with plenty of education but zero real life work experience and skills.
