Christ Church Dickoya
Christ Church Warleigh Dickoya is an Anglican church built in Ceylon during the 18th century by the British. It was built by William Scott in 1878, when the country was a British colony.
A bible printed in the 1860s was presented to the church in July 1879 by Rev. Charles Hill, the rector of Warboys Parish, and is still preserved in the church. The first British colonial Inspector General of the Ceylon Police, Sir George William Robert Campbell, who came to Ceylon in 1866, is believed to be buried in the churchyard.

The Church Warleigh Dickoya was built in typical old British church architecture is quite quaint. The walls of the church include granite stones. The church interior has wooden furniture seats, an ancient pipe organ, an armchair, and wooden pulpit along with the 140 year old Bible.
19th century stained glass windows, which depict the paintings of Jesus Christ, were originally brought from England. A baptismal font made of porcelain is adorned with floral designs. The church floor is laid out with imported floral tiles from England.
A cemetery with tombstones of English colonial tea planters is next to the church. The tombstones extend behind the chapel, the plots they guard lined with bricks. The scene is both morbid and beautiful with the sloping green fields of tea folding into the river in the background.

The church is now administered by the Church of Ceylon. The church is regarded as one of the most prominent and oldest Anglican churches in Sri Lanka and is a tourist destination. It is in the Central Province of Sri Lanka, in Dickoya, near the Nuwara Eliya District along the Hatton-Norwood road through the Warleigh Division. The church borders tea estates and the Castlereagh Reservoir.

Upper Gartmore Falls is situated in the Maskeliya town of Nuwara Eliya. It is the highest waterfall located in the Gartmore Estate, standing at a height of approximately 30 m. This waterfall is fed by the water stream that comes from the Gawarawila Plains and finally falls on to the Maskeliya Reservoir. The hike up to the waterfall is possible by an average hiker. It is well worth the hike because Upper Gartmore Falls is one of the most scenic waterfalls in Sri Lanka.

Casgtregh reservoir
The Castlereagh Reservoir is one of Sri Lanka’s best-kept secrets; hidden in a valley and circled by tall green peaks, the reservoir is perhaps the most idyllic location in the hill country. The reservoir looks like something straight out of a fairytale: from a distance, the cool waters have an aquamarine tinge to it- which looks even more stunning when encircled by the green mountains- but the closer you get it becomes apparent the water is actually crystal clear. The vegetation around the reservoir ranges from alpine forests to well-groomed tea bushes.

The Reservoir’s Useful Features
Apart from being incredibly beautiful, the reservoir is also vital for its adjoining power station, and it provides most of the electricity in the area. The reservoir also has an ‘airport’, since the drive to Hatton can be quite tedious, many people opt for taking a seaplane from Colombo which lands on the reservoir! A sight which would definitely excite anyone!

A Hub for Fun-filled Activities
Visiting the reservoir is a wonderful activity for anyone whether you’re travelling with your partner, family or a group of friends. There are a whole host of outdoor activities on offer in the area: you can canoe along the cool clear waters of the reservoir, you could cycle through the surrounding hills, or you could simply enjoy a picnic on the banks of the reservoir. If you’re looking for a quiet and relaxing getaway, there are some quaint bungalows along the reservoir’s banks which make the ultimate idyllic getaway.
