윌렘 드 쿠닝 아카데미는 네덜란드의 문화, 예술, 레져, 엔터테인먼트의 중심지인 로테르담에 위치한 윌렘 드 쿠닝 아카데미는 로테르담 종합대학의 예술 대학을 명칭합니다.
로테르담에는 디자인 센터와 국제적인 박물관등이 위치해 있어 많은 문화 행사와 이벤트, 전시등을 쉽게 접할 수 있는 위치적 장점이 있습니다.
윌렘 드 쿠닝은 네덜란드가 배출한 세계적 화가 윌렘 드쿠닝과 사진작가이며 typhographer, industrial designer인 피에츠바르트가 졸업한 학교로 이 두 화가와 디자이너의 이름으로 사용되고 있습니다.
학사과정 (윌렘 드 쿠닝 아카데미)
총 4년과정으로 3학년에는 인턴쉽 과정이 있어 현지 필드에서 직접일을 해봄으로서 다양한 프로페셔널한 경험을 쌓을 수 있으며
또한 70개의 파트너 대학교 교환 학생 프로그램을 통해 다른 나라의 학교에서 수업을 받아 보며 개인적 작업의 시야를 넓히고 발전 시킬 수 있습니다.

After filling in your application you will receive two assignments which you will have to upload together with your portfolio. You will receive detailed guidelines on how to do this. Also you will be asked to fill in an online questionnaire. When you are already living in the Netherlands you will be invited to do the entrance exam at the academy. Within a few weeks after receiving your assignments you will be informed about the results and if you are admitted to the academy.

Please note: incomplete applications will not be taken into process. The required documents must be delivered hard copy as well to the Student Service of Hogeschool Rotterdam once you are accepted on a creative level.
A selection of 10-15 works which were preceded by a creative process.
For example: designs, objects, photos, films, games, animations, fashion (accessories), furniture, models, drawings, posters, campaigns, paintings, usable artifacts and sculptures. You can publish and present all of this in a neat traditional portfolio folder, but you can also use different methods: 3D work can be brought in a (cardboard) box, digital work can be presented on a laptop or tablet.
Please note: apart from these works, please show us some other things you created. Make a careful selection between the two. That way, we can assess to what extent you have an insight in your own qualities and your own work.
Your portfolio, sketches and other works that you bring, need to give us these insights. So please check whether you show both your full capacity and potential, as well as personal and specific fascination for your preferred major and preferences for (for example) materials, techniques, themes and concepts.
On admission days, we will look for and assess:
your expressive and creative abilities;
your feeling for colour, form and material;
originality and inventiveness in your work.
Sketches, tests, try-outs and experiments.
Bring sketchbooks, collections of ideas, scrapbooks, coasters with inventions drawn on the back, material experiments, prototypes, scale models, test prints and first versions. All of this can be related to the 10-15 works mentioned above.
We would like to gain insight in your design and creating process. We would like to see how you came to create a final version or design through sketching, trying, testing and experimenting first. We would like to see that you are able to challenge yourself and to further explore your first ideas.
It is important for us to see:
you can critically reflect on your work and challenge yourself;
you see and observe the world around you and react on whatever you notice;
if and how you are self-directing and self-learning and able to make choices;
if and in what way you have creating potential and can communicate through images.

After your application, we will send you a login code for an online questionnaire. We would like to know more about your choice of major and what you think you can expect from us. Who inspires you? What would you like to learn from us? We will discuss with you in person your questions and ambitions.
