mycheongjuchandelierchohab consists of nine artists from Cheongju. We are equal in the sense that none of us has any previous experience or knowledge of making chandeliers. For all of us mycheongjuchandelierchohab is an environment of self-learning and self-organisation. We are working like a cooperative, which means everybody develops his or her individual chandeliers. Chandeliers enhance the importance of a space. Historically chandeliers were placed in meaningful sites such as palaces or churches. At such places they were companions of works of art. Chandeliers are ostentatious and they emphasize the significance of locations in a spectacular way. With mycheongjuchandelierchohab we produce site-specific chandeliers. The works explore the relations between art, craft, design and how an object may become meaningful. How does an object become a lamp? How does a lamp become design? How does design become a chandelier and how does a chandelier become a work of art? mycheongjuchandelierchohab 9명의 청주지역 작가로 구성 되어 있으며 우리 모두는 샹들리에를 제작하는데 있어 경험이나 지식 없이 동등한 감각을 가지고 시작하였다. 조합원들 스스로 배워나가며 스스로 구조를 구축해 나가고 있다. 이 그룹은 콜렉티브(협업) 형식의 작업 형태가 아닌 조합식의 협력자적 작업을 진행하고 있으며, 모두가 개개인의 샹들리에를 발전시켜 나아가는 방식으로 진행 되고 있다.
샹들리에는 공간의 중요함의 가치를 높이며 역사적으로 성 혹은 교회들과 같은 의미 있는 공간에 존재하였다. 이러한 공간들은 예술 작품들과 중요하게 연결되어 있는 장소이기도 하다. 샹들리에는 사치스러우며 스펙타클한 방식으로 공간의 중요함을 강조한다. mycheongjuchandelierchohab 은 장소 특정적 샹들리에를 제작한다. 작품은 예술, 공예, 디자인의 관계 그리고 오브젝트가 어떻게 의미를 가지게 되는지, 오브젝트가 어떻게 조명이 되어지는지, 어떻게 조명이 디자인이 되어는지, 어떻게 디자인이 샹들리에가 되어지는지, 그리고 어떻게 샹들리에가 예술 작품이 되어지는지에 대해서 실험하고 사고를 확장시킨다.
