A young Form 2 student from Kanyakine High School had been out of class after failing to raise school fees, and his situation worsened when a fire destroyed their modest home, leaving them with nothing.
Living with his elderly grandmother, who survives on casual jobs, the boy from Keriani, Njaina in Karingani (Chuka Igambang’ombe) was staring at a future cut short, with little hope of returning to school.
Everything changed when his story was featured on a local media platform and reached Hon. John Mbabu. Touched by his situation, the leader took swift action—buying basic necessities, providing a school uniform, and personally escorting him back to Kanyakine High School.
At the school, he was received by Senior Principal Mr. Dickson Gitari as his fees were cleared. Hon. Mbabu went further and committed to supporting the boy’s education through to completion, as well as building him a new home.
