On the lower floor of , the dining area and adjacent tatami room are shaped through subtle shifts in level and atmosphere.
Set slightly above the dining space, the raised tatami room introduces a quiet sense of transition without separating the two areas entirely. The change in height creates a layered composition, allowing each space to hold its own character while remaining closely connected.
Here, dining becomes part of a broader spatial experience. Wood, tatami, shoji screens, and soft light create an environment where everyday rituals unfold with calm attention, and where the traditional structure of the machiya continues to support contemporary ways of gathering.
