Mariolina – From the dining table to the bar counter

Over twenty years after the launch of the Mariolina chair (design Enzo Mari), we are now presenting the Mariolina stool.

Stackable and available in two heights, the stool now expands the possible applications of the collection within interior design projects.

This enlargement of the range guarantees a consistent style throughout different areas of the same space, providing seating for bistro tables as well as the bar counter.

When designing Mariolina in the early 2000s, Enzo Mari approached the chair as an archetype, driven by the desire to create an object that was “as simple as possible, almost obvious”.

Inspired by the lightness of 1950s seating, Mari cleverly designed a polypropylene seat and backrest that gripped the slim steel tube frame through moulded ribs.

Just apparently simple, the Mariolina chair reveals the meticulous attention to detail of its design when examined carefully.

Today, thanks to its clean aesthetic, stackability and lightness, Mariolina is one of the most appreciated chairs of the Magis collection, chosen for residential and commercial spaces alike.

Vibrant and luminous, bright yellow and menthol green are recurring hues in the work of the designer and were carefully selected in collaboration with Archivio Alessandro Mendini.

Magis is proud to contribute to the exhibition “Alessandro Mendini.Cose - Stanze come mondi” with the iconic Magis Proust.

This baroque-style armchair represents the industrial evolution of the original Poltrona di Proust, designed by Mendini at the end of the 70s.

The exhibition, curated by Loredana Parmesani, traces the career of Mendini through 130 of his works, encouraging visitors to discover the creative evolution of one of the greatest names of Italian design and architecture of the Twentieth century.
